Great accessory with a few lacking features.
I own the Sony HDR-AS100V and I wanted a view finder that was separate from the Play Memories App because that is a two handed operation. I saw that Sony offers this accessory for the AS10/AS15 but a number of people confirmed it worked with the 100v and it does. You simply have to open both doors on the bottom of the 100v to get it to fit. The LCD that shows the preview video is not HD video but it is way better than using your phone and having the lag as this is an HDMI connection not wifi like when using the phone. The fit is a little tough to get as there is tight clearances as the opening is small and you have to line up the input but once the camera is in the cradle this accessory takes the 100v to another level. The buttons all function the same way with the exception of the record button which is a little tougher to push in but I like that extra travel for eliminating errant recordings. The candle also has a built in tripod mounting hole which is nice because the stock 100v doesn't have that unless you use the waterproof case or the adapter piece. The biggest downfall of the camera cradle is that you can charge the camera in this cradle. Not a huge deal but it would be nice if you could. The LCD unfolds like a traditional camcorder and can be swiveled to face the lens for vlogging, selfies or framing a shot from the other side of the camera. The video output automatically flips right side up when you flip the LCD over which is very nice. There are also 3 hidden button when you open the LCD for playback of photos and videos on the screen. These buttons work great for cycling through everything on the camera so you can check instantly if the photo or video is now you like it.The only other gripe I have with the camera cradle is the slickness of the cradle. It is a non-textured plastic and it is super slippery. I do wish for a lanyard or a better material for gripping on the camera cradle. I am looking into getting black grip tape and applying it to the top and bottom of the cradle for better grip. I am also looking into attaching a lanyard somehow for insurance. I would have also liked for the camera to turn on when opening the LCD but I understand that is asking a bit much from this accessory.I really like this cradle but with the few lacking features I needed to give it 4 stars instead of 5. Definitely worth buying if you want more versatility with your Somy action camera.

best accessory for sony action cam
This is the best accessory you can get for the Sony Action Cam. I got my Action Cam first for my cycling rides, then also started using it for other videos - family stuff, events, etc - where I would normally use my Lumix GF1 or Sony RX100. As the Action Cam unit itself is too small for me to hold comfortably, and it can get hot, I have to keep it in the the waterproof case just so I can screw in a mini tripod for a gun hold when recording. The problem with the case, it can get foggy afterwards, and you have to remember to always wipe the condensation off. Outside, you also have to keep the waterproof case clean in front of the lens as well. This attachment allows me to get the camera out of the waterproof case when I obviously do not need to use them in adverse weather. The combo makes the whole thing chunky, but its still way smaller than the usual camcorder profile (I never owned them, but I see how big they are in shops). The unit have a tripod mount, so I can do the gun hold, but as its chunkier now, its also easier to hold without it.The LCD is an obvious benefit for careful framing when I need to. If I am doing a timelapse, it helps to set the framing correctly, without having to resort to a wifi connection to your phone, which is kind of a hit and miss experience for me at times. The playback of videos on the LCD is also a big plus. No need to wait to copy your files down to your PC or have access to a TV in order to view your videos, in case you have to redo any of them.I did not notice if the video playbacks or the live viewing in the LCD drained the batteries faster. It may have, but I never noticed it at all. I always have a spare battery with me to ensure I have enough juice to keep it working. This is really money well spent.

It works with the AS100V, I repeat it WORKS with the AS100V... Just wanted to say this because several folks say it Does Not !!!
What to do...You need to open the two access doors at bottom of cam, making sure they tuck into the case while gently sliding the cam in while aligning to the HDMI port. When aligned, press downward gently until it seats. You can do this easily while avoiding the lens (not touching it). Then close the lid. It's an engineered fit, no doubt... snug. But you wouldn't want it loose & rattling.I just had this delivered yesterday, had it going within a few minutes. The buttons on the case do work/function, just a little stiff on the record-stop button. Just press a little firmly. The camera is so small, the case adds very little to it's size... it also seems a little slippery, grainy yet smooth. This along with it's size made me consider a screw on handle to the bottom side of the case. I am not after bulk, trust me... but I do like convenience. I ordered the Barska Accu Grip to go along with it. I don't have it yet, but will report back when I do and the combined functionality.OK Update: The Barska Accu Grip came today, as I tried to attach it to the cam's housing, the screw bottomed out but the cam was still not snug against the grip. The screw is too long. This can be resolved by filing the screw down, I may down the road... OR as I did, I found some rubber washers and stacked a couple beneath (1" Dia O.D. ,1/4" I.D.) and works perfectly. I do like the feel of the grip. I can hold the camera much more firmly, and control the Record button with my thumb very easily. The setup feels a little forward heavy because of the location of the 1/4-20 tripod hole being rearward on the cam housing.. but to me, this set up is a keeper. Opposed to holding this slick feeling housing awkwardly, the handle adds much benefit! I am posting some pic's, not the best, cell ph pic's to give you an idea of the way it all looks together.

excellent accessory
Great for framing shots. A must if your going to use as a standard video recorder. Screen has excellent clarity but hard to see in direct sunlight. Very useful for reviewing footage in the field.

A handy accessory...
Makes the camera virtually perfect for any occasion now. Have a backup battery available though as it does suck power.
