Easy replacement for old hardwired door chime
The door chime does a great job of blending into the wall and was easy to replace the old big bulky fake wood and brass chimes from the 1990s. It was easy to download MP3 songs onto the door chime hard drive. Drop and place or copy and paste works but must be PC and not MAC. Wiring into the door chime was just push on back of slot to open and slide in wire, one for front door, back door and trans (hot wire). What I didn't know was that I had to add a diode to the front hardwired door bell. It was easy to do once I knew what they wanted. You need the diode because the sound (bells or songs) is electronic and not a mechanical pin hitting a chime. The diode runs a close loop so the bells/songs can play fully to set time (10, 20, 30 seconds or full song). It took me about 30 minutes to get everything set up but now that I know what I'm doing it would take no more then 10-15 minutes. There are 3 sound levels and are fairly loud but we need that as we have a long meandering house. I have it on the lowest setting and can hear it easily from 80 feet away at one end of the house. The sound quality is good, that was the one thing I was concerned about - but the songs I loaded actually sound good. I also like the sound of 5 of the 9 bell sounds that came with it - so lots of choice. It's easy to change (scroll through) sounds once it's up on the wall but make sure your do all your music downloads before you put it up as it must be connected to a computer to add MP3 files. It does come with cord to connect door chime to computer. All you need is screwdriver and maybe drill to get this up.I do recommend this door chime and as of right now, I would get it again. I did order the used/open box one to save money and there was nothing wrong with it's appearance. The box it came in had a worn corner but that was it.So it's been a few months and all was going well, then suddenly the chime was ghost ringing non-stop. Pulled all the jumpers off and still ringing. Put all jumpers back not caring which side went in first. Still ringing non-stop. Went outside to check if door bell was stuck and after pressing door bell, the music played and then stopped ..... so fixed (I think).I really like this chime and hoping it won't ghost any more. Best thing about it, is my dog doesn't go crazy anymore when someone rings the doorbell and music plays.

Successdful Install
When I called Broan Nutone, their Rep suggested this as a replacement for the BK125LWH-1, which I did like but found out that the volume couldn't be increased and this made me miss visitors. The LA600WH's dimensions were similar to the Bk's. In fact, I was able to reuse the BK's cover which didn't muffle the volume as much as the LA's. After researching the LA's reviews on Amazon, I bought it. I would like to thank all of the helpful reviews, especially the one that suggested the ferrite clamp to prevent "ghost ringing". I bought one and installed it as a precaution. The wired installation was straightforward. The first problem I had was that the diode shorted out my front doorbell and killed the light within it. The second problem I had was that I couldn't change the chimes. I decided to return it and give it another try. After purchasing a new lighted doorbell for the front door and receiving the replacement unit, I installed the second one and it was dead. I was devastated because I really wanted it to work, especially after I had downloaded some chimes into it. After vocally praying to God out of despair, I discovered the diode was installed with the silver ring toward the transmitter. Once I reversed it, I got the unit to work but the chimes were working in reverse. I discovered the electrician had reversed the wiring in the box. Once I reversed the wiring, I was able to select different chimes for the front and rear doors. Hallelujah! So far so good. Don't know how long it's going to last but for now I'm extremely happy that I was able to get it to work.Update...My visitors say they can hear my chime outdoors! I have a 3,000 sq ft ranch house and I don't keep it "mouse quiet", so this information means a lot to me. Unfortunately, I experienced my first incidence of "ghost ringing" even with the ferrite clamp installed. The painter came over and when he unlocked his truck, my doorbell rang. We verified this several times to make sure this really happened. This makes me sad because I really like this product and do not want to return it. I installed the clamp per the photograph. I don't know what else to do.Last Update...May God richly bless the Reviewer who posted the solution of removing the jumpers. It worked. No more "ghost ringing". However, I'm keeping the ferrite clamp on the wiring.

Doorbell
Purchased the door bell less than a year ago. This is one of 2 that I purchased from Amazon. The first one works without issue, this one does not. Just installed it and its a dudd. It will not ring with batteries in it or hardwired. Hoping the seller will allow me to exchange it.

I WAS TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED & FRUSTRATED!!!!
I WAS TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED! This was suppose to be a house warmig gift. BUT this product did not work even though it has the word UNIVERSAL on it, which to me means works with any doorbell, WRONG!!! I paid two ppl to come and try to connect but was unable to. I found out it is not compatible to the doorbell. I really wanted the door chime but I have paid out the same amount in 2 ppl trying to Install plus additional $35 plus tax to get a doorbell that is compatible. I hope it works, it hasn't arrived yet. I have spent so much trying to get it installed for my daughter because this is what she wanted. I will keep it only if the other doorbell works. Plz remove the word universal so no one else has this problem. I must say this is the most expensive chime/ doorbell I have ever purchased. Feel free to compensate me with something for all my frustration and extra money I have paid out trying to get it to work. Youcan put a smile on my face because right now I'm really UPSET.Thank you for understanding my frustration

I like it a lot.
I installed this with a Ubiquiti G4 Doorbell cam. This unit requires constant power, were your usual chimes are only powered when the doorbell button is pressed. This is achieved by wiring the diode across the doorbell button. For my installation the Ubiquiti unit is at the front door and I installed the diode on the switch at the back door. I may replace the back door switch with another Ubiquiti unit in which case I'll need an alternate power source. During testing before I installed this unit it appeared to accept power from the USB port. The volume and tone are good, I replaced the LA600WH cover with the original chime cover which was a perfect fit as it was a Broan as well. Can't hear it great in the back of the house but we do have a large house, the original didn't do any better.Others have mentioned phantom rings and I do get these every now and again when I use the remote for my gas fireplace. I suppose I need to play around with the jumpers or try the ferrite clamp trick. Uploading files isn't super convenient as you have to physically access the unit and most installations will require a ladder.Certainly a mechanical chime is a much easier install, but I like using custom chimes for Halloween and a regular chime with 30 seconds of dogs barking added when we go on vacation.
