Fat, Drunk, and Bipolar

Fantastic, Direct, and Beautifully-written
The title for this book should be Fantastic, Direct, and Beautifully-written. It is one person taking you on a ride through a life of painful episodes. At times, you want to be riding shotgun with her, your head out the window singing Driver 8 at the top of your lungs. Other times, you'd rather be in the backseat with the safest seat belt on the market, wishing you remembered how to say the Lord's prayer. Either way, Lynn Bryan Johnson exposes you to the truthful, first-hand account of what it is like to struggle emotionally with bipolar disorder. It is both heartbreaking and heart-affirming at the same time. Your one regret when you reach the final pages is that it has to come to an end. You will long for more.

GREAT!
This is a great book. Looking on the inside of it here, I knew immediately that this was going to be good. It's a very fast read because it is so well written and less than 100 pages. I read it in a hour. I would have liked for the book to have been longer in length only because it is so well written, but the story stops at a perfect time. It is written in such a way that I wanted to keep reading her story, looking forward to what is going to happen next. She covers the spectrum of bipolar AND substance abuse, which I really appreciated. .

Quick account on struggling with and learning to succeed with bipolar illness
I enjoyed this read. Fat, Drunk, and Bipolar is a deeply personal account of one woman's struggle with her bipolar medical condition. It is a short account yet quickly immerses you into the extreme highs and extreme lows of the illness. The personal story is biting at times, which must reflect the reality but in my opinion shows hope for a good life if addressed properly and resources. In my forties, I know of 5 people with the condition and now I have a clearer and larger picture of their lives. It has helped me understand the illness better and appreciate those who suffer from the illness.

What an amazing and witty woman
I both laughed and cried as you told your story. Makes me think about you and Raleigh. BTW, I still have your Sugarhill Gang CD. Hugs from Tx., my friend.

wow
I've always struggled with depression, ever since I was a young child. This book isn't really the kind of, hey let me inspire you to live, it the kind that makes you feel less alone. It shows me that web people with crippling depressive traits can be successful. It has a very witty sort of tone to it, and Lynn Johnson very much displays her intelligence in this writing.

The truth is spoken here. It's a hard look ...
The truth is spoken here. It's a hard look in the mirror and what has to be a spiritual release of putting it out there for the world to see. Lynn comically admits her afflictions and faults, while introducing herself to the reader before her penning of future novels begins.

A practical guide to beating the illness
A quick easy read about how your life can collapse in the presence of a mental illness, which can grip your life. This account is very helpful for it is penned by someone who has been through the long dark tunnel, but eventually come out smiling.
