Booby Moon is a beautifully illustrated rhyming storybook specifically designed to emotionally support both mother and child for weaning from breastfeeding. Weaning doesn’t have to be all tears, tantrums and heart ache. It can be an exciting, heartwarming, and beautiful experience to treasure. A chance to celebrate a milestone reached, honour the journey thus far and acknowledge this special time for both mother and child. Most weaning storybooks introduce the concept that breastfeeding will be ending soon. Booby Moon does that, but so much more. It gives toddlers: A magical story they connect with. A celebration to look forward to. Evidence of Booby Milk leaving. A beautiful ritual to help them say goodbye. In the same way that the Tooth Fairy makes children happy about their teeth falling out, looking forward to seeing Booby-milk-magic fly away to Booby Moon can give the same wondrous joy to a weaning toddler. Our experience using Booby Moon for weaning our boob-mad 2-year-old was incredible. After we said goodbye to Booby Milk, he simply accepted that it was gone. He still asked for it occasionally but whenever he did we reminded him of how we had let it go and there were no complaints, no pleading, no tears. Instead, excitement and joy would rush to his little face and he would say, “Yeah, I let go! And Booby went shhhhheewww up to the moon!” Booby Moon is special because it has a magical element that appeals to the child and also sets up a beautiful ritual to complete the breastfeeding journey. Studies show the practice of ritual during times of loss alleviates grief, makes us feel closer to our families and helps us to say goodbye. The ritual aspect of the Booby Moon process helps mother and toddler find an easeful acceptance for Booby Milk going away – with the child seeing the magic leave with their own eyes. The story also brings comfort post weaning, offering reassurance that the relationship continues; you can still wave up to Booby Moon and Mumma will still be here to offer love, cuddles and comfort. Look up to the moon, isn’t it amazing? Doesn’t it seem magical already? Half the work is done for us right there. Book also includes a gentle-parenting user guide that covers: how to wean using Booby Moon, night weaning prior, breaking the fed-to-sleep habit and various options for a meaningful goodbye ritual. The concept was created in 2020 by a breastfeeding mother who was ready to wean but could not find a children's book on the market that offered her toddler an upside to their impending loss. Using the 'Booby Moon' story was such an easy and beautiful experience that it needs to be shared with parents around the world. Suitable age range: Toddlers. 18months - 4 years. *Book features an illustration of a mother cuddling her toddler to sleep instead of nursing them at night (bed-sharing). **Book also features depiction of a balloon release - please search for "Booby Moon with Bubbles" if you'd prefer the new edition which features eco-friendly bubbles depicted instead. ***Books are printed on demand by desertcart. I tried a few different books with my 2 yr old and this is the only weaning one that stuck. My favorite part is that it has a special balloon release ceremony, which turns something that might feel sad into something magical-like the tooth fairy. I think it’s best for a child turning 2 or older. I started reading it to my child around turning 2 and as the book shows their birthday tied in with the occasion, I correlated it with the following birthday-so we spent nearly a year enjoying the book leading up to the the big day. Additionally, the book offers some journaling type pages in it and some weaning tips for mom! Review: Key for Weaning! - Really helped with weaning my 18-month-old, we read it nightly and were able to wean successfully in a week!

So helpful!
This is a beautiful book which helped me wean my last baby. I wasn't sure how to go about it and had a lot of emotions regarding weaning and this book helped put those anxieties at ease by giving me a plan! The story is so sweet, well written and the illustrations are beautiful. There's a part in the back for parents giving suggestions on how to use the book for successful gentle weaning which so aligned with our parenting philosophy. I knew I was ready when I could read the part where they both let the magic go and didn't sob! Haha. My baby nursed for 2 years 7 months and the ritual of sending it back to the moon was a tangible event we could talk about when he felt the urge to nurse. He felt really proud of himself and would exclaim, "Back to the moon!" And point up at the sky. We modified the ritual (because helium is too expensive lol) and put glow sticks in a balloon and blew it up, tied it to a place positioned within sight of the moon and I told him "Once all the light fades from the balloon, that means all the magic has returned to the moon!" My older child also enjoyed this ritual and added to the excitement. It also have him a narrative about his weaning process too (he self weaned when I got pregnant with my second). They both enjoyed the book and this ritual so much and I can't recommend this enough! We modified the story to fit our language around nursing , so instead of booby moon/booby milk we called it milky moon/milky milk.

Great story and helps!!
This book was so helpful!! We read it everyday for a few weeks and didn’t even need to make a whole goodbye ceremony. She just stopped nursing without a problem after being super obsessed for the longest time. She still loves to read the book months later.

Weaning book for toddlers
Although I opted to return the book, I recognize the author and team worked hard to publish this book. The book is excellent for the weaning journey with a toddler. It has a weaning story and a “booby moon” celebration explanation and “Are you ready to wean?” Section. However, I returned it because I thought it would have more than one celebration example in it. Otherwise it’s a good wearing read for a toddler.

Perfect for littles weaning!
My daughter was a little over 3 when she weaned. We read this book for a few months prior and it helped her a lot transition to weaning. She is 6 now and sometimes still wants to read it and talk about sending the magic back to the moon.

Exactly what we needed during weaning!
I absolutely love this book and how much it helped my daughter and me through the weaning process. The illustrations immediately captured my daughter’s attention, and the tips at the end were incredibly helpful and reassuring. Weaning can be such an emotional stage of motherhood, and I’m so grateful to the author for creating a book that truly supports both moms and little ones during this transition.

Lovely book for weaning and special story to re read when affirmation is needed. Has also been lovely to return to now we have had a new baby to remind toddler why he doesn't need booby milk anymore but tiny baby does.

Nice Concept
Nice concept and bought this to wean my toddler. Eventhough she took her own time to wean, thai book gave her some ideas about kids stop having breastmilk gradually and they find comfort in other things or it's okay kinda message. She was not emotionally ready to wean during that time. So I let her continue. But gradually everytime I remind her about this story and it helped later

Amazing Milk Day celebration
This helped me wean my toddler completely at 23 months. She was ready, albeit emotional, as was I. Of note we let the balloons go during the day time as we didn't want to stay awake until 9:30-10pm when the moon was visible, and it still had the same results. We said goodbye booby moon at about 5pm and let some balloons go. And it went really well. My daughter has asked for booby here and there, but is ok with the answer.. we let booby milk go back to booby moon remember? It was a beautiful way to end the breastfeeding chapter, and I wouldn't trade it for the world. Thank you for this book! It was a life saver and gave me some lovely memories of her milk day. I got my daughter some comforting, soft stuffed animals to keep close to make the transition easier. Although I am grieving the loss of breastfeeding and my daughter getting older, I'm very happy and proud of how it all went.
