Ninth studio album by the British band, featuring 12 tracks, including the hit singles 'Higher Power' and 'My Universe' (featuring South Korean pop group BTS). Review: Bought this for one track - I 'quite like' Coldplay, but would not consider myself a fan. And I certainly wasn't planning to buy one of their albums... ...until, I came across someone pushing the track 'Coloratura' on social media. The guy said that it was the best track he'd heard in a long time. I hadn't come across it, and had a few minutes spare, so... Blimey. It's quite a long track. There's a hesitancy about it, but it builds steadily. It is beautifully crafted. It's lyrical, and the lyrics even mean something. In a world where so much of the music is just manufactured noise, and my preference would be to listen to my tinnitus, there's a whole world of excellence here. So I bought the CD, didn't I? OK, there are some weaker tracks there, but on the whole - It's Simply Brilliant. And that final track, 'Coloratura'... if I were Chris Martin, I could imagine packing up, smacking his hands together, and saying "That's it then". How do you top that, Chris? Review: Coldplay Collection - This was the best priced CD. Reason for purchase was I had missed the last 2 Coldplay CD's sp this and Moon Music completed my collection. Delivered in 2 days.

A partial return to form by Coldplay
After the very disappointing "Everyday Life" - an album I never bought after 7 or 8 listens via a well known free streaming app - "Music Of The Spheres" represents a partial return to form by Coldplay. Here is a track by track review: Track 1 - 50 odd seconds of ambient sounds, pleasant enough but basically padding Higher Power - the first single, not bad, would sit easily on "Mylo Xyloto" or "A Head Full Of Dreams" Humankind - another reasonable track Track 4 - ditto track 1 Let Somebody Go - a passable if slightly dull duet, though Selena Gomez has a reasonable voice and is very easy on the eye Track 6 - pretty grim stuff People Of The Pride - a stomp which sounds at times like a poor man's Muse track Biutyful - immensely annoying vocals on this one Track 9 - 20 seconds of padding My Universe - starts off sounding like a decent pop anthem, but ruined by a Korean boy band Track 11 - synth noodling, electronic drum beats and sampled (I assume) chanting, more padding Coloratura - the best track by a mile, though comparisons with the mighty Pink Floyd are unfair So as I said, this album is a partial return to form by the band. But it's amazing to think that Coldplay once produced an album as brilliant as "A Rush Of Blood To The Head". I think that Chris Martin's best days as a songwriter are long gone.
