I bought it more than a year ago and it still works like the first day.resistant strings and resistant foam.

It’s basically impossible to tighten the straps enough. Doesn’t fit square bar racks
Bought these to pick up a new kayak. The foam blocks have slots for airfoil shaped rack crossbars, but mine are square. The blocks flop and flip off even when ‘secured’ by the straps. I was forced to use them upside down. Even then the straps can’t be tightened enough to prevent the kayak from wobbling. Not suitable for travel at road speeds. Fortunately our vendor could supply ratchet straps fore and aft, which enabled us to get home.

It works
Took awhile to figure it out. The clamps needed to be flipped on the ropes to lay correctly. It works with my Dodge Charger, but once all the straps are tightened, we have to climb into the car through an open window because you can't open the doors when it's in use. That's inconvenient. Another downside is that it can only hold one kayak at a time, so we still have to find a solution for the second boat. This is more of a short-term solution for that reason, but it works and saved us money.Update: Thinking we need to attach to inside of door instead of the windows. Then we should be able to open doors while it’s in use. Will attempt this weekend and see what’s up.Also, in response to the other review on this items.. yes, for any kayak or canoe you put flat on your car’s roof, you will also need to tie down the bow and stern to secure the boat. Ties are included in this package for that purpose. You do not want to attach to your bumper, as it can ruin the bumper. You should attach to the tow anchor below the car (rear), and what I do for the front is attach it to the inside under the hood in a secure place.

Great blocks, still needs front and back straps
The foam blocks and middle straps work great for my suv. However, the description is misleading and says this model does not need the front and back straps, it does, which is why I’m giving it 4 stars . I did not want straps on the front and back of the boat, but I have found that not using them causes the boat to get a little wiggly, which makes me nervous for long drives. My method to fix this is to put a ratchet strap around the middle of the boat and secure it inside of the car. This has been extremely solid and I have no concerns using it like this

Not Worth the Headache
I would not recommend this product. It did not feel secure and the straps were so long we had issues securing the excess. It’s a tedious process to secure everything and took a while. The strap that secures to the front of the vehicle is also super noisy, after a 3 hour drive everyone in the car had a headache from the noise. I used once on a long drive and I will retire this, between the noise and anxiety it was the most stressful drive of my life and I’ve taken rundown busses up narrow mountain roads without railings.
