GrimmSpeed 2016-19 Focus RS License Plate Relocation Kit

No holes to drill, simple plug and play style. What I didnt know (and isnt an issue of the product) is the thread is a reverse thread for installing. Be aware.Much better than trying to drill two holes and install the STO N SHO (which I returned). If you daily drive, you are better off installing the GrimmSpeed. Doesnt look bad being off centered.

This is a great product to have for those of us who don't want to damage our bumpers. Yes, it's expensive for what it is, but I've seen competitors products so you pay for what you get, and this is by far a better product. For the Focus RS you need to run both spacers, and if you run covers over your plate you need to purchase longer screws because the stock place screws come nowhere close to the back plate. The bolt that secures into the car is substantial, just be careful with your finish if you're using an adjustable wrench. The bolt that secures to the tow hook bolt has blue locktite on it so it should stay in place, but it's pretty tight with both spacers installed. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase!

All the metal parts (bolts, mount and backplate) are sturdy and of excellent quality metal but the frame itself is cheap brittle plastic. The tolerances on the plastic frame were also different on the front vs the back. I got about a month's use out of this kit and my front frame is already cracked. It's definitely not worth $80. Had the actual frame that covers the edge of the plates been made of metal this could have been an excellent product. I'm using it on a 2017 Focus RS.

The installation was great, no problems other than having to get the proper hex keys. Will be recommending to other RS owners I know.

As far as base product quality goes, I would give this five stars. However, I gave it three overall as the product has what I consider a design flaw that led to my car sustaining very minor damage.The main bolt screws into a lug on the front of the vehicle, which is nice since it doesn't require any screw holes/modification to the body of the car. However, the screw hole in the top of the bolt is threaded in the opposite was as the bottom of the bolt, so when you go to tighten the bracket and frame for the actual license plate, it will tend to loosen the main bolt. I didn't realize this at first, and when I get back from driving my car around, my tag had come loose and was angled down, resting on the body of the car. Nothing came off, but the movement did cause the black plastic on the front of the car to be scratched (pic attached, the two small white marks in the middle of the pic are the scratches).So, I had to pull the whole thing apart, tighten the main bolt with a pair of pliers to as far as I could get it by hand, and then carefully re-attached the rest of the product so as to not loosen the main bolt. Way too much trouble for something as simple as just reversing the thread at the top of the main bolt. Such things are very basic design considerations and there's no good reason for this oversight, especially considering the price point of the product.

Don't like to drill holes into the bumper or run a front plate on most of my cars. Here in California you can usually get away without a front plate in most areas (OK, maybe not Irvine!). Even still, if you park at the airport they often check and ticket parked cars without plates so I picked up this prior to heading to SEMA this year. I plan to remove it later.Like other reviews said, it's an easy install with lots of adjustment options. And, it will be easy to remove and return back to no plate easily later. I just watched the YouTube video prior to installing. I tried it with and without the GrimmSpeed frame so I installed the plate twice.

This is a very high quality piece and I am very pleased with how it looks. The instructions are very clear and GrimmSpeed even has a very helpful installation video on their website so install is a breeze. The bracket is highly adjustable and can be placed any way you like it.Comes with very high quality stainless steel mounting hardware and even includes a free sticker! 5 Stars
