NicholsonCrescent Nicholson 6 Pc. Assorted Miniature File Set - 42030L

Since purchasing Nicholson 6 Piece Hobby File Set my annual income has skyrocketed, I inherited a beach house from long lost uncle and beautiful supermodels hound me night and day. OK... maybe not. Still I can say this set has proved valuable in projects around the house. Files live up to Nicholson reputation, perform job well and represent good value in my opinion. Plastic holder strong enough and should hold up for years if not thrown around too much or exposed to elements excessively. Had thought they might be made in USA at time of purchase but are made in China but more than satisfied with purchase. Great file set!

My original set of Nicholson files was handed down from my dad and is probably 75 years old now. Back then it was all American made. Today China pokes it head into this legacy product, but as best as I can tell after working with these files for a week, all is still good. Pleased with the precision that I can nip and tuck rail work on my model railroad projects. Would buy again.

Nicholson is the best for files - worth the money

A quality set of mini files which I use to remove flash from my paintable plastic miniatures. They are the right size and the assortment is helpful with the different shapes of the files. Overall aN inexpensive, but quality set.

This is a nice assortment of mini files. They do the job. They are Chinese files.

I was looking for a set of needle files with quality somewhere in between very expensive U.S.-made Swiss-pattern files and Chinese junk. This set fits in there, I guess. These are pretty good quality. They may be among the better Chinese needle files I've seen, but they're still just that - Chinese needle files. As such, they're way overpriced. You're probably better off saving up for a set of really nice files or just looking around for a set of cheaper Chinese files of acceptable quality. Additionally, the storage pouch which came with the files bears no resembance to the pouch pictured here, and is absolute junk.

This assortment of needle files is of excellent quality and craftsmanship. They are single cut with nice sharp ridges and made from a durable tool steel. The six files provide the right shape for any situation and they come in a convenient little pouch. They will leave a nice smooth finish on whatever it is you are filing. I would recommend having a good brush for clearing away the material that inevitably will get built up between the ridges when filing. Also the tangs are good enough to be used as is for light hobby work, but for anything that requires more force, a handle is also recommended. These files are quite small so get a handle that is suited to their size since a regular handle will dwarf them in diameter and possibly make them harder to use in tight places.

I really wish I could say this was a great buy. Unfortunately, I can't. Several of the files had very deep gashes cut lengthwise along almost the entire length of the file on one side. It essentially makes 1/3 to 1/2 of the file totally useless, since the gashes break up the file pattern and you aren't able to consistently maintain contact with your material in those areas. It's a shame. I thought that at this price these were a great deal. However, if I saw this quality in a file set at a local store for $4.99, I'd put it back on the shelf. But at $36, it makes me wonder who was catching up on sleep in Nicholson's QA Department when this set rolled off the line.You can still use them as a backup/beat-up set, and I'm sure they will last a very long time. That's why I'll give it 2 stars, since they're "usable" to a degree. It's just a question of if you want to spend $36 on a backup set that may potentially have 1/3 to 1/2 of the file being unusable straight out of the box. Not what I expected from Nicholson.

Absolute garbage, dont waste your money on this product. First of all, the pouch that the files came in was already damaged and the snap that close the cheap vinyl pouch was tear off. At this point no big deal i dont really care about this but when i opened it, the first thing i saw was the files handles were cut so badly that the end of them were not even, not the same length and you can see the shear cut and the burr were still there. I only take one of them out of the package and i can see the cutting edges are already damaged probably due to the files knocking on each other during the manufacturing process. Everywhere i look i see flaws. I dont recommend this product at all, im very disapointed about this nicholson product, this is not the quality stuff that you are expecting when you buy nicholson files....stay away and thank me later.
