Wow, this is great!
I recently purchased a 45-70 rifle. It has a standard factory recoil pad installed. The 45-70 ammo has a lot of bang and recoil, so after a few shots one begins to feel the pain in the shoulder. Purchased this limbsaver and could not be more pleased. I finished sighting in my optic with multiple shots with no pain. Slid right over my factory recoil pad. Great buy!

Better than I expected
I purchased this limbsaver pad for a Remington 700 5R chambered in 300WM, When purchasing the rifle I had a hard time deciding between the .308 and the .300WM but like any man I went for the more powerful version, The rifle is not really built for hunting. It is heavy, I mounted a huge scope on it..etc. I built it for long range shooting and maybe occasional hunting if need be, at the range when you are putting a box of ammo down range the recoil can be rough on the shoulder and I was enjoying shooting it less and less to finally just having to put it away. I decided to order this and give it a try, Once I got the pad I just slipped it onto the butt of the rifle which it fit perfectly and actually, the extra LOP puts me right where I really want to be so that was a nice addition. I was able to take the rifle out and shoot it yesterday and with the first shot I was very impressed at how much the recoil was reduced. Shooting from a prone position I put 10 rounds through the gun with not one bit of discomfort at all which means that I do not have any tendency to flinch and I find it also much easier to keep the target in my field of view through the scope whereas before it would bounce back enough to throw me off. I am very pleased with the product and I will probably look into getting one for my shotgun as well. The pad blends in with my stock much better than the photo on this page because it is a black and green synthetic, so honestly I don't think it looks bad on there. It is a soft rubber so it does not slide on surfaces as easily as the factory pad.. Harder to get in and out of my foam case.If you are afraid to buy one of these because you think people will make fun of you at the range.. You know.. real men don't need one of those...blah blah blah... It does not matter who you are, if you can reduce the amount of felt recoil and make the gun more comfortable to shoot you are going to shoot better with it.

Not a good choice for muzzleloaders.
I bought this for a Traditions Buckstalker .50 cal inline black powder muzzleloader. As ordered, this rifle comes with a very hard and unforgiving rubber butt pad. Shoot ten rounds of 100 grn charges and you will be bruised. I bought this Limbsaver slip on recoil pad in the hope of reducing felt recoil and I think to that end it worked as advertised. However, this rifle being a muzzleloader, there was a problem. Once you drop in your powder charge and start to seat the bullet, (the rifle will be standing up in this process with the butt sitting on the ground or on your foot depending on your choice) As you try to seat the bullet, which requires some effort, the slip on recoil pad will try to role out to the side of the stock. I'm certain that if you do this enough, the cup of the recoil pad is soon going to tear. The only way to prevent this as far as I can see, is to remove it during the bullet seating process. which means, between each shot, adding another step to the already slow process of the loading procedure. So in conclusion, for muzzleloaders I would recommend taking the stock to a gunsmith for a grind to fit recoil pad. Yes, it will cost a lot more.

Functionally Good, But Not The Best Fit
I bought this pad for my 1917 Enfield with the original military stock and have now used it for over 2 years. The pad works great from a functional standpoint of reducing felt recoil. I bought the small size based on the guidelines given for the butt dimensions of the stock. However, the tear-drop shape of the pad, which is typical for sporter rifles, does not really fit the butt shape of the old military stock which is almost rectangular (i.e., nearly as wide a the bottom as it is at the top). Thus, I find the bottom of the pad slipping sideways during use and I continually have to readjust it to keep it centered. Anyone buying the Limbsaver pad for an old military rifle style stock should be aware of this fit limitation.

No bruised shoulder
This is great! I shoot .308 win and it greatly reduces the felt recoil. If I could afford the ammo, I could shoot all day long and not whine about my 74 year old shoulder!

Worth the money.
I originally got a medium sized one for my Mosin Nagant, but it was too loose when attached. I replaced it with the small one, and it fits like a glove.

Fits kinda big. But it does work.
I donโt care for how it fits, but it is a LimbSaver brand and it does work. Iโll probably wrap something around the stick and then put it on the shotgun. Does itโs job, but my butlercreek recoil pad has a tighter fit.

Fits onto my 12 ga quite well. Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. But it feels great and I think it will work as expected

I bought this to get the length of pull that is badly missing on a Ruger 10/22. The model small fits nicely on the 10/22 and gives the length of pull you need for an adult size arm.The butt on my Ruger is straight and this fit the bill.If you have a concave butt, the company says to go with limbsaver model# 10550.
