Well made backpacking trowel for digging cat holes
This trowel was well reviewed by Dan Becker and I thought it would be a nice, light replacement for my homemade aluminum angle iron trowel. This trowel by Bogler is well made and will be easier on my hands with its plastic handle tip.Post 1st use Edit: This trowel works fine in somewhat loose soil with small roots. I haven't tried it in rocky soil but it might struggle there. I think with careful use this trowel will do the job in most conditions I will run into in the Rocky Mountains.

A Handy Tool for Camp and Trail
This is a fine product and I think it may have extensive utility in field hiking and camping. Although intended for creating cat-holes, it's a strong little digging tool which I believe will serve well on other trail duties. I've just received a pair of these trowels and took them out for a test dig. Used according to instructions they performed well and did not deform. I was looking for a small, light weight tool to include in my basic survival packs which I keep in the truck and always carry in the outdoors. These will serve admirably. I would certainly recommend and buy again.

It lives up to the hype!
After seeing all the videos on YouTube about how good this trowel was I finally ordered one for myself. I knew it was lightweight, but dang this thing is super light! It feels like it would bend when digging but I went out to my backyard and dug a few holes and it held up great. My yard has small rocks and roots and it did great. I think after watching all the videos it meets my expectations. The best part is the plastic peice on the handle that keeps it from digging into you hand.

Best choice IMO
This type of device is effective as long as you respect its ultralight construction, and it functions well for me. I'm glad I got this one with the hand-protection thing at the top, adding little weight but buffering the sharp metal. The open design keeps it very packable, easy to slide into tight spaces.

Amazing light weight trowel
Went camping for the first time. Was really handy to have and easy to use. Dug in two places, one was sandy soil that was very compacted and hard, the other was wetter dirt. The shovel dug through the dirt very easily, took just 10-30s to dig a 8in deep hole, it took a lot longer and some patience to dig a 6in hole in the hard compacted sand.I hit rocks both times, and the shovel did not ding or dent!

Number 1 for your number 2
The Bogler is a sturdy tool that's great to rely on when nature calls in the back country. It's super lightweight, it's got sharp enough edges for digging, and (my favorite feature) it's got that plastic nub that lets you really push on it without slicing up your palm. It should not be used as a dual-purpose trowel and camp spoon.

A great tool for the ultralight backpacker!
Ultralight, small but sturdy - just what was needed as I hiked the Colorado Trail this summer! Would definitely recommend. Good value for money too.
