A bunch of cool stuff at an affordable price
The kit arrived in good condition. There are a lot of things I like about it and I think it's well-designed. The panel meters are gorgeous and big, just as you would want them if you're trying to excite young minds. Overall, the components and wiring technology are well-chosen for letting kids "see" the circuits they're working with. I really like how the bell ringer comes apart so you can use its electromagnet separately. Some components are made a little cheaply, as might be expected at this price point. The knife switches look flimsy but they work fine. The ringer for the bell didn't quite reach the bell, so I had to bend it into shape with pliers. The kit says it comes with 3 3V lamps and 3 2.5V lamps, but there is no way to tell which bulb is for which voltage. One of the bulbs that came with the kit was non-functional. I was surprised that the ammeter, on the 0.6A scale, seems to have a resistance as high as 2 ohms or so. The voltage drop across that resistance can really affect the operation of circuits when the ammeter is inserted. The instructions are pretty reasonable for a lot of the experiments but the level is definitely uneven. If you already understand electricity, you'll easily be able to know what to do and how to explain it, but otherwise in some cases you may be a little mystified. Also, there is a piece with two LEDs in it that is never used in any experiments. I found that one of the LEDs is red (with a forward voltage of about 1.9 volts) and the other is blue (with a forward voltage a little over 3 volts).

Great Teaching Kit for Kids Giving Them Jumpstart on Electro-Magnetism
I got this for my grandkids. So far, I had a couple of sessions with my 9-year-old granddaughter. I think any head start kids have on this is great. All the parts were there and functional. Everything is open for understanding what's going on. The lessons are great.

A terrific value, but one or two minor flaws away from perfection.
I purchased this kit because I wanted to refresh my engineering training by exploring early physical principles in electricity and magnetics discovered in the 17th and 18th centuries. This kit is intended for use by middle school students up to early high school, but it's also great for adults of any age that want to try some of the same experiments that great discoverers like William Gilbert, Abraham Bennet, Alessandro Volta, André-Marie Ampère, Georg Ohm, James Joule, Hans Ørsted, and even Benjamin Franklin (not the kite in the storm experiment) conducted during their careers. One of the things I discovered doing all of the experiments in this kit is the importance of the standard units of electrical quantities. Those standard units simplified most electrical equations to algebra and some simple trigonometry. The kit includes a great selection of modules to easily perform 50 different experiments in electricity and magnetism, and one bonus experiment with a buzzer and light sensor. I had no problems with any of the experiments. All of the modules worked as described in the manual. There were no missing parts in my kit. I like that the manual asks the student to carefully observe the results, think about what the results mean, and come to a conclusion on what is happening in the experiment. There is almost no mathematics or detailed measurement required, but a good bit of reasoning is still expected from the student. The modules are not laboratory quality. They are not designed to survive a decade of abuse by multiple groups in a classroom setting. But they are rugged enough for a single student to use for multiple sessions, or a family with three kids in a home school setting. At $50 this kit is affordable enough for each student to own one and take home with them after the course is finished. The quality of the modules and documentation are an excellent value for the price. The spring terminals provided in each module are a great idea. Connecting modules with the provided wiring is very easy and reliable. The battery module is ingenious. As shipped, it looks like a three cell battery holder but is actually three single cell holders that can be stacked for cells in series to produce 1.5V, 3V, or 4.5V. I'm very impressed. All the modules fit into their own storage compartments in the included plastic carrying case. All of the experiments are repeatable. There are no one-shot experiments that if you miss the result you can't do it over. Each experiment can be done over again as many times as you want. The lemon battery experiment does use electrodes that can tarnish or corrode over time but for experimental purposes they should last for years if cleaned after each use.A couple things to be aware of:1. There are six incandescent bulbs provided in the kit. Three are 2.5V and three are 3.8V (the manual calls these out as 3V). The voltage rating of the bulbs is stamped on the base, but you will need a magnifier to read it. But it is there. Use a labeled plastic bag for each type to keep them separated.2. The parts list says you will receive two glass rods and two black plastic rods for the triboelectric experiments. This is not the case, but the experimental results are not affected. The "glass" rods are actually clear acrylic plastic, which I think is safer for kids and easier to ship without damage. Acrylic works just as well and the same way that glass does in the experiments. Don't worry about that.3. The parts list indicates you will receive a copper rod and three copper electrodes. This is not the case, but the outcome of experiments is not affected. The "copper" parts are made out of brass. I think this is better for kids as copper tarnishes quickly which will affect experimental results if not cleaned. The brass parts provided contain around 60% copper and 30% zinc which still allows the experiments that use these parts to work while kids, parents, or teachers don't have to remember to clean the tarnish off of the copper. So don't worry about that. Now for the "not so great" and why this is only a 4 star review:1. You are almost guaranteed to have a broken carrying case to one extent or another. Mine had several cracks in one corner that I glued together and now the case is solid. It was good enough for me so I decided to keep the order. You will have to decide how much breakage you accept before returning the order. Even the photo used in the Amazon listing shows damage to the carrying case. So I think that's just how this product is.2. The manual is very good compared to the documentation from other Chinese manufacturers that you see so many complaints about. I had no problem understanding the procedures or the illustrations and successfully completing the experiments. However the manual has many punctuation, spacing, formatting, and capitalization errors. English majors and documentation specialists will be enraged when they see it. There is also the occasional spelling and grammar error, but overall this is a good manual. Just don't expect it to be perfect.3. The propeller on the generator module was broken on receipt. I glued it back together with solvent cement and it's as good as new. It seems like a little breakage here and there is common for this product. Nothing that a little glue can't fix, but you will have to decide how much breakage you accept before returning the order.Regardless of all that, this is still a very good product and it is a great value. There are similar versions of this kits in different colors offered on Amazon, but in my opinion this version is the best one. This kit uses spring terminals on most modules instead of binding posts which is easier to use and makes more reliable connections. You get a lot for your $50. I'm impressed and happy with mine, and I'm an engineer over 50. I think these are great for after-school STEM classes, home schooling, adult refresh, and many other learning settings. The student or instructor will need to inspect each shipment to confirm that breakage isn't excessive and everything is included. Some instructors will decide that is too much trouble. I understand that and wish the product delivery experience was improved. That would easily make this a 5 star review.

So happy it had plenty of appeal for both of the kids
I bought this for my two Grand-daughters. They were absolutely thrilled. The instructions are written in detail and include pictures, and the projects are cool. It is educational and of great fun. They ended up trying it out, and were still working on more projects they "invented" with it at home. It's a super fun way to demonstrate electronics to kids and have them experiment on their own. Very glad we tried something a little different which is fun for adults and kids!

Provides all the essentials to explore electricity
Provides all the essentials to explore electricity without getting electrocuted! Contains multiple ways to generate electricity, Multiple ways to use electricity with the Direct Current (DC), Permanent Magnet (PM) Motor having all of its parts visible, wires to carry the generated electricity to the devices that run on electricity (called the electrical loads, or loads for short) and a neat booklet illustrating various activities. Also contains two very hard to find d'Arsonval meters, one an ammeter and one a voltmeter. Both have 2 select able ranges to accommodate voltages from 1.5 volts to 4.5 volts and associated currents. Great way to provide children and adults with an intuitive knowledge of electricity.

good buy
I like the modularity of it and the partial assembly required makes it more interactive learning meaning you can dissect it and see what components are needed and why. $50 is a bit on the pricey side but considering the meters that are included and the tangible knowledge that it offers the kids it is worth it absolutely!

Excelente producto.
