My grandkids LOVE this game!
My grandkids are ages 2 and 5 and both of them just love this game. It is great for hand/eye coordination and matching. I gave it to them for Christmas and we must have played 15 rounds at their request. Definitely recommend!

Simple & fun
This game is simple to learn and fun to play. The wooden donuts are good quality and painted nicely. Using the tongs allows my daughter to improve her fine motor skills. Very age appropriate.

Fun factor = 4.
This is a fun game for 3-4 year olds. We don't play with the pinching tool - it seems silly. It's easier to just pick the little wood doughnuts up and move them. Kids don't see the point of slowing things down to use the pinching tool. Some parents like to work on "fine motor skills," but it's just frustrating because every child knows it's obviously so much easier to place the pieces by hand. Our main complaint is that it's too easy to "win." You roll the dice. Two of the dice determine which doughnut to pick up and place on the board. One die has a mouse on one side - so the mouse does not come up often enough. It's very hard for the "mouse" to get 3 doughnuts and "win" before the players can get 4-in-a-row doughnuts on the board. We decided to keep the game because, after playing by the rules once just to practice following the rules of a game (and giving the mouse a remote chance of winning), then we have a pretend "tea party" with the doughnuts and make something else up. So, like most Peaceable Kingdom games, the pieces are extremely well made and can serve for imaginary play really well. Just don't walk away and allow the kids to mix the doughnuts up with all the other "tea party" toys in your house - the small doughnuts will get lost in all the kid-stuff in your house, and they'll be hard to find when you want to play the actual game in the future. We mostly-recommend this game.
