Small but mighty
It is small but sits in the hand a bit like an ingot. It feels solid & heavy for its size. It is easy to use for its basic use, power on & press the record button. As others have said the menus are a bit of a puzzle but a bit of practice is what is required, the written instructions are a bit unclear, it looks like they were translated. The device itself has many language options. The volume indication is a bit odd, it reminds me of Spinal Tap, "Our amps go up to 11 but this goes up to 31!" I am still experimenting with the Voice Activation, as it seems to switch on & off a bit randomly, there is a slight click between the segments it records & you realise there are gaps in the vocals where bits got skipped. But I'll see how it goes in the different situations & play with the settings. I wouldn't use VOR for a meeting or lecture. It is best to set it to normal & push the record button. Maybe you can edit the dead bits out later? It is said to pick up from 60 feet away, I think that might be true as it could hear me go downstairs & lock the front door! It has a timer & also you can record blocks of half an hour or an hour. Then it automatically stops. But having set it to 30 minute blocks, it does keep recording as soon as one block finishes, it immediately starts a new block. Pick up of close-up sounds can be very harsh & loud though. I have turned the gain level down to level 4 instead of at level 7. I think the recording would be improved by an external microphone. I put two Oasis albums on it & it plays them back fairly loud. I use it in MP3 only, I have had problems with WAV files in the past. This is a 64GB version but this is actually 58GB. It is about 20 hours of recording. More to follow.

Reliable, Clear Recordings for Academic Use
I've been using the 64GB Digital Voice Recorder with Voice Activated Recording and Playback for the past six months to record my PhD presentations, and it has consistently delivered clear and reliable audio. The microphone's range is impressive. Even when capturing presentations in larger rooms, I've found that tilting the recorder towards the speaker ensures their voice is captured clearly. This has been invaluable for reviewing feedback and refining my presentations. The interface is straightforward and intuitive. While it may have a bit of a nostalgic feel, the controls are easy to navigate and I had no trouble learning how to use the device. The built-in speakers offer surprisingly good sound quality, although I typically opt for headphones for more private listening and detailed review. Overall, this recorder has proved to be an essential tool for my PhD journey. It's dependable, captures clear audio, and offers the features I need for academic use. If you're looking for a no-frills recorder with good sound quality and ample storage, this is a great option.

Great device fit for my purposes
It's a great little device. It's comfortable to hold and easy to operate. My reason for buying this was as a dedicated device to record my thoughts and ramblings during the day for myself, almost like an audio journal. I don't need perfect sound quality or anything so it's fit for purpose. You can change the bitrate and format of the recordings, however I find any bitrate above 512kbps has a crackle during playback. I'm not sure if this is a device issue or if the recording itself holds the crackle as I've yet to transfer the recordings to a PC. My moneys on it being the device speaker. Also the clunky buttons are so loud you can hear them during a recording, which I suppose could be edited out but it's kind of annoying. Battery life seems good as I've yet to see the power indicator go down at all despite an hour or so of use total so far. Storage capacity is ample. Admittedly my recordings are only a few minutes long each, and there's only about 20-ish of them, but checking the hard drive shows only 100 or so Mbs used up. So at this rate I'll have hundreds of recordings before I have to worry about storage. It looks nice and sleek. Controls are intuitive and the screen is clear. Durability wise the chassis feels strong but the buttons feel a little flimsy, as mentioned previously they could also be quieter.

Look out for memory faults. (Updated comments)
Pretty solid build. Good battery. My product has faulty memory. I lose recordings. My problem won't happen to everyone. I should have contacted the company before now, just to see what their customer service is like. I don't trust the storage. It seems like every time I have a problem that has to be repaired, losing vital recordings. ******Update, The company contacted me for a full refund. I didn't ask them directly. They obviously watch reviews and learn from reviews. I've accepted the kind offer of a refund, they didn't have to do that. My purchase was unlucky. Every brand develops faults. I'd buy from Evistr again. No doubts. Top quality customer service without even asking..

Overall a decent cheap voice recording option
Takes a bit of initial setup to dial in the sensitivity as it is very easy to make the recorded audio sound like noisy static mess above a normal talking volume. Once dialled in it does a decent job of recording clearly. The inbuilt speaker means you can listen back on the go. Despite the sliding on-off switch I kept it in my pocket and found numerous recordings of over an hour where it has decided to record my pocket from being pressed while walking or driving. My pocket also managed to almost delete some important audio files but I saved them in time. Maybe store it somewhere less prone to outside pressure? Battery lasts ages so overall a decent cheap option for voice recording but obviously you get what you pay for.

Simple and effective but it's 16GB not 32GB
Bought for an elderly relative who wanted to record some of his memories while he was still fit enough to do it. It was important that the basic controls should be easily accessed and clear in their purpose and operation. On all counts this recorder delivered. The recording quality is more than adequate for an oral history project like this which will be for the most part be conducted in quiet indoor settings. The rechareable battery has a good running time and although no charger is supplied it comes with a USB cable which can be used with any phone charger. Recordings are automatically time-stamped which will be useful for organising the files when transferred to a laptop. Having read the full description and other reviews I knew the recorder would be 16GB capacity rather than the 32GB described in headline description. This is something which may catch out more casual shoppers and should be corrected immediately.
