Great little mat and good size for me. I use it for watch repairs and it works perfectly for what I need especially since it's non magnetic... Seems durable so far and cleans easily.

Updated review: I've now owned this 8 months. Not a good mat, trash even. ESD recitative coating gone already with almost no work being done on it. It mostly acts as a spare on my desk. After measuring with multimeter recently it's definitely not anti-static and fairly static prone even in ideal conditions (on a grounded metal desk, 39 humidity level). I knew it wasn't a true ESD mat, and that's OK so I gave it one last chance being my spare heat gun mat. Guess what? 10 seconds of adjacent hot air contact and this thing starting bulging and twisting! I'm talking a bulge that started under the PCB I was blowing air in a clamp above it. I measured contact heat with a thermal laser, and it was only 120 on the mat and continued tests confirmed it. It's at best a cutting mat, and light solder gun, but definitely don't lay your soldering iron on this thing!Old review: I've soldered directly on it, tried to cut it gently, tested if it's conductive. All is well. I'll see if it lasts a year as that's the difference between a good ESD mat and a poor one.

I don't do electronics work daily or anything, but since I've been doing more and more, I decided to pick this up - so I'm just a hobbyist. That being said, I love this thing.Plenty of space. I use the little boxes to hold screws working left to right, and right to left when you put things back together. It really makes things easier. The last project was fixing a mac mini, tons of little screws, so this came in handy. No soldering on that one, but before that, I was soldering some LED strips to wires, and it worked great. hit the thing with the iron once, no effect, dripped solder on it, it just bubbled up and after it cooled you can toss it out.I recommend this to anyone doing electronics work, fixing phones/computers, and such. Very nice size, plenty of room for stuff, and plenty of screw spots. I also like the color.

People are testing this with ohmmeters and concluding it isn't anti-static. Guess what, no good static mat tests good with a meter. So, here's how to tell: (1) use a tester like the one shown in the photo, or (2) (for the masses) do something that lets you draw a static zap when you touch grounded metal. Then do the same thing with this mat, connected via the supplied cables. When you get a static spark, you know this is conductive.This is the only mat I have (of six) that is non-slip. It's smaller than three of my mats that cover the work surfaces in my lab. (They're 2.5 x 4 ft) But it's big enough to fix laptops and anything smaller. And the screws won't get away from you.The only improvement I can suggest (for now) is to make the cables longer, and more flexible. They're thin, stiff, el-cheapo, and not nearly long enough unless you use an outlet strip on your bench or desktop. But the wrist strap needs more slack or it will probably snag on stuff and drag it away. I have a pro strap that I've used for years. And I have an outlet strip- so the cord for the mat is long enough (and I have a 10' anti-static cable with a grounded plug if needed). I like the grounded plug on this thing, and the fact that both ends of one cable, and one end of the wrist strap cable have banana plugs and removable alligator clips. The AC plug adapter has two banana jacks.

It is small enough to roll up and put away and quickly grab when I have a project. I used this when I replaced the SSD in my son's Steam Deck and then later when I built a PC for my other son. this helped keep things from sliding and getting away from me and all the nooks around the edges were great for holding screws and small tools. I would have preferred a longer and not coiled cord for connecting the pad to ground. I appreciated the alligator clips when I got to the point of installing everything into the PC case because I was able to clip the ground straight to the case and then my wrist strap to the case since at that point the pad was relatively small compared to the case.
