perfect fit
Works great. Derailleur functions as intended using this adapter. I ended up buying a second adapter for the other side and installed upside down to help keep my axle in the correct position, since my new skewer needed to be extremely tight to keep from moving, and I am worried about breaking it. Having 2 keeps the axle in the same place on both sides of the frame with less concern about the axle moving out of alignment.

Derailleur hanger for an old bike.
Need this if your old bike has no braze on derailleur hanger. But, takes up a lot of space in the dropout.

Worked for pairing an old bike (pre 2010) with a derailleur bought in 2020.
I have been repairing an old bike (pre dating 2010 I think, forgot the date) that was using a Shimano derailleur. The leg looked exactly like this item, but the derailleur was bolted into it (could not salvage from the previously broken derailleur). The little screw is meant to hold the item in place, but the item is truly secured by the wheel at the U-shaped mouth. Eventually that item has a screw hole at the bottom that allowed me to screw a derailleur that was of the wrong brand and fit (bought by mistake) into the bike. It's not perfect, I dont have the right derailleur, but it works fine for me as it is. Although I still need to tweak the derailleur and actually change the old loose chain.

Meh
The plate is fine, but the screw is short and weak. For aluminum dropouts, this needs a replacement screw to clamp over. Would be fine for steel dropouts.

I recently converted my vintage Royce Union with a 5 speed freewheel set up with friction shifters to an 8 speed cassette with indexed shifters and it worked beautifully. This little hanger made it possible to mount a modern indexed derailleur on the vintage frame. This type of hanger works on a frame where the hanger slides into the drop out and is secured by a small screw which clamps it on to the frame, tightening the axle also helps to keep it secured.

Fits most older 10 speed bicycles with steel frames.
This little deraileur hanger plate is used with steel frame bicycles. You can mount any modern derailer to it. It comes with the cinching bolt and special nut for attaching it to the dropout. The dropout needs to be the forward exit type of dropout that almost all steel frame 10 speeds of the 60's thru the 90's had.

Unrealiable threads
After installing on the bike, while threading the derailleur, it would not tighten: It just kept spinning upon reaching the end of the thread for the direct mount derailleur. I installed and returned it. If the derailleur cannot stay tight, it will create usability problems and might even cause the drivetrain to malfunction. Poor quality.
