I got up one morning on a normal day and lo and behold one of my kids brought up a piece of sponge which turned out to be a piece of the living room sofa. It looks like one of the kids decided one day to fiddle with the old sofa and ended up ripping off the faux leather material. After going through spontantaneous meditation, I remembered that I had repaired another sofa from the same set before, but I had not been too satisfied with how I fixed it. The material was not sticking all the way to the surface in some areas. I knew that I had repaired a leather patch before, but this was a monumental task for me. I said to myself, "worst case I get better at repairing and I end up buying another sofa set." My wife was skeptical. You could see how big was the damage from the picture. I was hopeful and took on the challenge. Luckily for me, I had made a similar repair a few years back, I got the repair patches from the same company and the same color from Amazon. This time, I ordered two small and one big patch to see how it would turn out. In the meantime, I tried to get all the pieces back and put in regular tape so I could plan ahead in putting everything in place. The items arrived two days later. I started cutting and stitching the ripped parts together first as I figured this would hold the parts together. I remembered that although the material comes with an adhesive and a peeling paper, you have to be careful with the way you cut it and where you end up putting it. If you remove it for some unwanted reason and try to put it back again in a different area, the adhesive becomes useless and won't stick to the surface as intended. If this happens, then you have to rely of using some strong bonding glue. In my case, I used Gluemasters glue which I keep in my fridge. I tested the glue on the other patch I had used before and I had an idea how to use it. I aldo used regular tape in the back of the ripped areas of faux leather to stick all the parts that had been separated. These two things helped me big time. After putting everything together, I was impressed with how elastic and durable the patch stuck with the faux leather of the sofa. I had to remove the patch from different areas so the piece wouldn't have any wrinkles or bubbles. I was really happy with the end result. I just wished the company would sell bigger pieces to accommodate one's necessity. The quality of the material is great and the price is reasonable considering how everything is so expensive nowadays. The adhesive is strong but has problem attaching to the surface of the couch because of the curvature. If it's flat, the adhesive doesn't have a problem sticking. You really have to get close to notice the boundary lines on the patches. My wife was satisfied and other people who saw it agreed that you really couldn't tell if the piece was torn apart unless examined closely. Just look at the last picture for yourself. The look, feel and texture is really close to the original. I would definitely buy this product again. I ordered additional large patches to reinforce the small patches and to make it more difficult to remove. It saved me a trip to the furniture store (for now). I definitely give it a 4.5/5. Recommended.

Good: Soft touch, correct color. Bad: same issue all the rest of these patches have, the adhesive is fine but it pulls away from itself. All these patches that have a felt backing end up separating from the adhesive layer. The adhesive sticks ti the couch, the patch removes itself.

Ordered and installed on a pontoon seat the shipping was quick and I cleaned it and installed the patch and it sealed to the vinyl seat well and it’s been in there for awhile now and hasn’t come off or loose.

I followed the instructions and had good results. Tape sticks well on smooth surfaces but not so well on tucks and wrinkles.
