Update: 10/13/23 I tried the cool mint one against my better judgement. The smell is so strong. Kinda like Vicks rub strong. Doesn’t hold as well as the original. I actually started mixing a lil bit of the cool mint with the original and I really like it now. My beard stays in place and the smell isn’t bad now. Doing it like this I put it from 2 to 4 stars.Wanted to try something new versus my normal Viking brand. Read reviews and seemed like a good bet. How do you get past the smell?!? A cross between a cardboard box, a condom, and a glue stick. It’s almost like a paste but softens a lil in your fingers but can’t get very far into my beard. Only reason it got two stars is cause it keeps my beard where it’s at. Too bad about the smell especially since the product goes under my nose. My wife hates the smell too. Viking is better hands down. The best out there though is called Best Beard Cream. Expensive but the best imo.

Overall I'm very pleased with this product. I have quite a large beard and regularly rotate different products. This was recommended by an unaffiliated 3rd party and I must say, I'm very pleased.Scent (of the Original) is potent but not overwhelming by any means. I'm not good at describing scents so I won't waste your time with all of that. I will say it's a solid masculine smell that I found to be very appealing and, for what it's worth, my girlfriend also really liked it.The hold is fantastic. For the last year or so I've been sticking with another beard balm that was hands-down my favorite... however, it had very little hold. This product's hold is perfect. Like mentioned before, I have a fairly large beard and and need extra hold if I want it to keep its shape throughout a long day. This one does a great job without feeling too "thick" as I've noticed some beard balms over do it and end up feeling more like a wax.If you're having trouble getting the product out of the tin, treat this like you would with a wax. Use a finger nail and scrape the product out, then lather it around in your hands to "melt" it into what essentially feels like your standard oils. That way it comes right out and you can get an accurate amount every time.Last but arguably most important, I've been getting more serious about beard products lately and the BIG thing that interests me is the fact that they do not use any Chemicals, Preservatives, Fragrances, or Colorants in their products. That's awesome because the more research I did, the more I found a large majority of these companies use terrible chemicals, fragrances, etc in their products. I spend a lot of time, money, and effort on my beard so I can appreciate a company that doesn't pump a product full of that garbage. Cheers - I'll definitely be back to buy more.

This is my first beard balm. I have used various beard oils before for beard care, but I ordered this during Prime Day and I love it. I've had no problems with beard oil but I was curious about the balms and I think I prefer balms now that I have tried Wild Willy's Beard Butter. I've been using the product regularly since mid-July, so about 4 months now, and I do feel like it is keeping my skin and hair moisturized. It is easy to apply and a bit easier to control than beard oils. The product and ingredients they use seem to be of great quality. I really like to combination of essential oils they use. I'm sure they each have their own hair advantages, but I really just like the scent of the butter.I really only use balms and oils to keep my skin moisturized and beard hair softer. I know some people have other reason for using it like for increased hair growth. I can't really say whether it helps that or not, but I do feel like it makes my beard more comfortable. Plus my kids are less likely to say my beard is pokey.

I would stay away if you value your beard. The product was solid in the container, unlike other beard balms, it took a lot of effort to soften it to get any out. After finally softening it enough to be able to rub it in my beard, It didn't easily rub in, it felt like glue being pulled through my beard. Nothing about it is a 'balm'. At best its a beard wax, not sure why anyone would want to be able to shape their beard like they would a long handle bar mustache. Used it twice, that was two times too many. I will find a product that will help tame my beard, not preserve it for posterity.EDIT: I will say this, even though the product is not for me, I have to give Wild Willies a pat on the back for their customer service. They were very quick to reach out to me after my review was posted. I have to give credit to a company that is willing to address poor reviews even when they have so many highly rated positive reviews.Second Follow up: I can't say how much I appreciate the Customer Service at Wild Willies. They asked me to give them a second chance, and I begrudgingly did so, but I wanted to be fair. Apparently there was an issue with my Balm and got messed up in transit due to excessive temperature changes (the rep explained it much better than that). They sent me a replacement tin. Once it arrived sure enough the consistency was more of what I expected and was easy to work with. I will say this, if you have an issue like I had, reach out to them. They are a company that understands customer service and do their best to make it right!
