Worth every penny and much more
One reason for this review is that, while reading the other reviews, it became obvious that many of the writers posted were reviewing other Bibles. Some even refer to goatskin; others are writing about the NIV. My post is in reference to the "NKJV Classic Verse-by-Verse Center-Column Reference Bible" in brown genuine leather. Starting with the cover: The brown is dark, but not so dark that it looks black. I would also say that it's a reasonably thick slab of leather- it doesn't feel the least bit flimsy. The grain is what I call "tiger-stripe" for lack of a better term (long lines of grain like creases not pebbled). The cover is nice and soft to the touch and easily drapes over the fingers but is not SO floppy as to make it difficult to hold. (I would say it's very similar to the way Nelson's Premier goatskin Bibles handle.) The name "Holy Bible feels as though lightly stamped into the spine not just printed. Looked at from an angle it looks stamped. There are five sturdy spine hubs that are very nicely squared, as well. This Bible is also perimeter stitched. It doesn't have the overhanging "generous yapp" that some people seem to love, but it's generous enough to do the job well. The page edges are a nice very shiny gold gilding. The inside of the cover is attached with--- well, I'm not sure what it is. It could be vinyl or some other synthetic material; it could even be leather. I only know that it's not paper. I was very pleasantly surprised to see that it's edge-lined! Both the front and back covers open like they're on a hinge, and, as usual for edge-lining the first two card-stock pages, in the front and back covers, are glued together half-way. (By the way, just in case you don't know- NEVER, NEVER, EVER pull these apart! They're meant to be that way.) As far as laying flat at Gen. 1:1: Weeeeellll... I just got this Bible a couple of hours ago. It stays open, but will need some breaking in to actually lay flat at the very front of the Bible, and I don't mind it at all. The text is 10 pt., and the black letters are nice and bold and thick (I really dislike the thin and spidery font that is used so often these days; this is much nicer.) As a point of reference, I wear 2.50 strength reading glasses, and this text is very comfortable to read. Even the center-column cross-references, which are so tiny as to be useless in most Bibles, are not that hard to read at all. They're small to be sure, but not itty bitty. This is a two-color text. The book titles, section headings, and verse numbers are all printed in the same shade of red. The words of the Lord are also printed in the same shade, which I find very easy to read. One of the first things I did was turn to the Beatitudes in Matthew to see how the red letter looked. It's wonderful. The 36gsm paper has virtually no show through (ghosting). I have become very wary of red letter Bibles over the years because it is either so faded that it looks like the ink in the printer is about to run out or it's more of a hot pink than red, and the places where Jesus is quoted in long passages bleed through so much that it looks like someone used a highlighter on it. This is a wonderful red-letter Bible that has none of these issues. The back of the Bible has a concordance-surprisingly easy to read- and the usual set of Nelson/Zondervan maps. I should also mention that there are three extra long wide double-sided satin ribbons (brown, red, brown). I just say that this edition compares well with Nelson's Premier Collection Bibles. The only differences are the goatskin cover and art gilding. I wouldn't hesitate a moment to recommend this Bible. It will outlast many of us to become that most treasured (and fought over) heirloom- "Grandpa/Grandma's Bible. God bless.

Ordered New. Received Used.
I bought Reference Bible, Classic Verse-by-Verse, Center-Column, Genuine Leather, BLACK, Red Letter, Comfort Print: NKJV.It came with three thick classic ribbons, great font, soft comfortable leather. Everything about this Bible is lovely and a great joy to read.Unfortunately the Bible came with a few underlines and premarked verses in it. I was actually okay with that but I was quite disappointed that there was some random name in the front of my new Bible. This dealer sent me a USED Bible when I bought a new Bible. However I am thankful to have such a beautiful Bible and to live in a time (a little while longer) and country (USA) where I can freely own, read and learn Gods word.

The features.
I wanted a NKJV verse by verse, thumb indexed, red letter, leather bound bible. This is it. Superb in every way. Very clear, no ghosting. Eminently readable. However, the spline is not the same in the descriptive photos. No fancy gold trim between the second and 4th hub (not important). And if you enlarge the photos, it appears that the cover has double row stitching. This does not, yet again not a big deal. Just be aware. No need to return; you have been told. Great bible.

Beautiful Bible
I was originally going to return this Bible, did not feel like I needed another NKJV. After opening the Bible and seeing exactly what was meant by 'Comfort print' I was hooked. The font is the perfect size, the sharpness, clarity and boldness of the black lettering and the red lettering make this a joy to read. I have a NKJV that I have used for quite some time but the lettering is very pale and in poor lighting very difficult to read. I HIGHLY recommend a Bible with Comfort Print.

Crisp, large easy to read text - beautiful Bible!
I recently found two major errors in translation of the John MacArthur ESV study bible that I have been reading for a couple of years so I purchased this NKJV. This is the most easy to read and beautifully done bible that I own now.I went back to the NKJV when I discovered these two examples in the ESV study bible. 1 John 3:16 should say “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life”.The ESV study Bible says “By this we know love that he laid down his life for us and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers." That’s a huge difference in the meaning and changing a beloved verse.2 Thessalonians 3 in the ESV study Bible says “Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come unless the rebellion comes first and the man of lawlessness is revealed the son of destruction. This text refers to the Rapture – not a falling away from the church (although that is happening now). Andy Woods and others have clarified the interpretation of this verse. The word I have a problem with is "rebellion" which is completely different from the falling away or departure. If you are looking for a really nice NKJV bible consider this one.

Classic traditional NKJV Bible to treasure
I chose it for the quality and was not disappointed. With ribbon page markers and printed chapter indents I can find and mark the required book or chapter more easily. I love the fact that God’s word is printed in red so we have no doubt which words scripture are His own.

Beautiful Bible - nothing I don’t like about it
Absolutely lovely bible. Print size very good, quality feel as a paperback with soft leather cover, beautiful binding, nice to hold and lays flat on the desk. Love the size. Jesus’s words in red letter. Nothing I don’t like about this, a bible for years to come.
