When Dick Harper (Jim Carrey) is terminated as Globodyne Corporation's VP of Communications, he assures his wife, Jane (Téa Leoni), he'll find another job in no time. Months later, their lawn is repossessed, Jane has sold her body to science, and Dick's career as a day laborer ends with his deportation to Mexico. Madder than ever and not going to take it anymore, Dick and Jane turn to the fastest-growing sector in the white-collar job market — armed robbery — as they become upscale suburban Robin Hoods, stealing from the rich and giving to the poor...namely themselves.

Required Education?
This film should be required as part of american education; it reflects society in a brilliant and truthful manner. Though some say that our society is broken into three sects--the poor, the middle class, and the rich, this is a pipe dream. There is the prison class, the working class, and the ruling class, who often keep power and money within a tightly-locked sphere of elitism. Meanwhile, the rest of society lives in the prison of poverty or debt, continuing to walk along the brink of starvation, homelessness, and demeaning demise--whether consciously aware of it or not. This reality of society ripples throughout all the americas, from Canada, down to Chile. This piece of cinematic history reflects who we are and where we are headed, begging the question in this concerned citizen's mind, 'What is the bigger threat, corruption or weather?'This film is important, funny, and likely to become a classic.Let it be noted that I feel inspired to watch a Carrey marathon--especially for the films I have not yet seen.

funny movie about a very real story for many people around the world
Remember when all the banks traded empty stocks and bundled subprime mortgage loans to sell them off to people as viable stocks but in reality they were screwing over the public and their own employees? Remember how the US taxpayers "bailed out" the banks with their own tax money to offset the terrible scheme of bundling subprime mortgages? Then in a surprising twist of fate it was the very same people (The US Taxpayers) who were screwed by these banks paid out of our own pockets the difference that the banks owed so our government wouldn't be "shut down" unlike some other countries like Iceland (who have since recovered and jailed their bankers).Yeah well this movie is a bit like what happened during the crash of our market which was planned and executed perfectly except this movie has a much happier ending for John Q Public.

Ahead of its time
Saw this movie on Christmas Day 2005, with my sister and her husband, and don't think I have laughed that much in my life. Unfortunately, in 2008, I was put in the same position these characters were clear down to selling my toaster. Too bad the banksters who created the disaster of 2008, and devastation it caused, were rewarded by the highest office in the land instead of punished. No one had to account for where the $3 trillion of our tax dollars was sent, while Americans like myself had to end up living in their cars. I was an elderly woman and it wiped me out completely. At any rate, I wasn't laughing anymore. I think maybe I could watch this again with a new perspective.

Truly funny...not stupid funny like a lot these days
This movie was hilarious, and relatable....though it goes to the extreme. I LOVED it, and I don't say that about too many movies.

Hilarious and family friendly
I love Jim Carrey, but admittedly a lot of his funny films are not child-friendly, pushing the PG13 to the limit with language and sexual/adult references. This one was, however, really GREAT. It was truly hilarious but offered great family-focused motivations from the characters. There is one scene early in the film where the couple is in their bedroom and wife says 'let's have sex', but then they both say 'on friday' and go to sleep. It is a funny comment of the reality of married life and is in context of husband/wife and is very short scene. There is a clear bad guy, clear good guys (even though they are doing bad things in their desperation). We really enjoyed this film and will definitely watch it again

Light comedy
The Harpers have a new house .And the rest i wont tell you in a review as i think it spoils the film you may watch . Amazon have a descrition of the film. There have been critisism over this film but on the whole i didnt find it that bad . If your looking for an easy going comedy to watch on a boring afternoon then its watchable and a few laughs in their . If your a Carrey fan then its worth having in your collection .

Brilliant movie
Although silly title 'Fun with Dick and Jane' seems more appropriate for a porno movie, the film is brilliant, touching, warm, sad and funny at the same time. I don't particulary like Jim Carrey for his over-the-top acting style, but he is very good here. I never buy a DVD unless I know that I will want to watch it over 5 times. This one I watched many times already, and will want to watch it again and again. The movie arrived very quickly.
