How do I know what size to buy? S, M+, L, XL

We are the manufacturer of this product.First, measure the diameters of your nipples AFTER a pumping session.  If you don't know how to measure it, follow maymom.com/nippleruler to make yourself a nipple ruler.  Knowing these data, the general rules of thumb are that the inner diameter of the breast shield should be 1-2 millimeter larger than your nipple diameter.  If you measure nipple diameter BEFORE a pumping session, we can only estimate that the breastshield shield should be 2-5 mm larger.Example: the diameter of your nipple after a pumping session is 23 mm, then choose the M (24mm) or M+ (25mm) breasthields.  Furthermore, please also try the following check list to find the best one for you.      Center the nipple in the tunnel of the breastshield. Now begin pumping and check the following points:    Is your nipple moving freely in the tunnel?    Is none or only very little tissue of the areola being pulled into the tunnel of the breastshield?    Do you recognize gentle, rhythmic movements in the breast at each pump cycle?    Do you feel the breast emptying all over?    Is your nipple free of pain? With the above check list, a mother can easily assess whether she is using the right Breastshield size. All points should be "true", then you have the right size of breastshield.A correctly fitted breastshield prevents the milk ducts from being compressed, thus enabling an optimal emptying of the breast and maximum milk output when pumping. This helps mothers to maintain their milk production and supports lactation. It also prevents chaffing and tenderness of around the nipple area.

Yes, it will fit Pump in style, made in 2004.  If not, it also includes a set of extra tubing connectors that you can use to adapt to your machine.

Not sure what all the model numbers coordinate to.. I have the medela pump in style tote from WIC, the tan one, and these we're compatible.

I see that the product info says these pieces are steam sterilization safe, but is it also safe to boil them when sterilizing the parts?

Absolutely. I boil mine every other day. I bought 2 sets so I have 4 breastshields and extra valves. I boil all for minimum 4 minutes, sometimes 6 or 8. No problems so far.
