This 30-minute horror/fantasy anthology series follows in the vein of The Twilight Zone. Each episode presents another standalone story of horror fantasy, and/or science fiction. Some episodes are gruesome, a few are of a lighter comedic style. Like many such shows, Tales... adapted the work of famous genre authors of the period such as Harlan Ellison, Stephen King, and Clive Barker.

This series is a great item to own who are fans of Stephen King and creators of good horror shows
Tales From the Darkside is a great show that aired during the 1980s. Many of these episodes were developed from concepts that were way ahead of their time. Various popular actors appear in episodes during the series run including David Patrick Kelly, Fritz Weaver, Vic Tayback, Jerry Stiller, and many others. And the narrator of the introduction, Paul Sparer, did a wonderful job always. With 90 episodes, a wide variety of topics are covered and many of the stories converted to TV are high quality. Some notably good, spooky episodes include "Black Widows", "The Cutty Black Sow", "The Geezenstacks", "Heretic", "The Last Car", and "Love Hungry" to name a few. As a series I give Tales From the Darkside five stars! Horror and sci-fi fans will the love something about the show.

Worth the money despite the minor issues.
I like the fact they include the whole series in a 12-disc set. The material for the packaging is good too, nice hard plastic. The DVDs are good quality...Only issues I found was that the DVDs were stacked 2 on each side, one dvd on top of another dvd. This could be bad for the DVDs, causing scratches. Also, the entire inside dvd holder part moved around a bit. So handle this with care. The video quality is the exact video quality you would see in the 1980's. No remaster, but the show is watchable and still good quality and good sound. It is like watching it on a high quality vhs player, which I personally love because it is the way the show was meant to he watched. It is worth the money..I would give it a 5 if the dvd decks were designed to prevent possible damage to the DVDs.

Lame Nostalgia
This is probably some of the lamest television in the history of television (even by 80's standards) & i'm a horror fanatic but hey the intro & outro are classic and the shows bring back memories of me being a young kid tuned in every Sunday stuck to the tube & scared(now realizing it was probably just from the intro lol). But seriously, every season had a couple of good shows sprinkled throughout.

Scratched but all discs worked fine
The discs were definitely used as they contained many scratches on them. I have watched all four seasons and they all played with no issues.

These are transferred from video masters so they don't look too good. One disc was loose in the case and marked but I waxed it. This was billed as Creepshow the tv series, that being my favorite movie I needed to buy this. Several are directed and scored by John Harrison and one by his partner Dusty Nelson even employs the trademark red/blue creepshow lighting! The Tom Savini episodes are the best (In the closet and Halloween Candy). I think the Capitol library music was only replaced on season 1 (except for In the Closet episode). The rest were scored by the person listed in the credits. The replacement music doesn't sound out of place.

Good find for the price.
The media could not be loaded. The best thing about this DVD set that you getting all seasons in one box and for relatively low price. DVD case itself is slightly flimsy, but it arrived undamaged. The quality is not superior of course, mostly due to the fact that it's very old series. Attached video shows dics being played on Bluray player and 4K TV. As as fan of scary shows and movies would definitely recommend to add it to your collection.

Same series you remember
Great box set I picked up to remember the series that I remembered as a girl and I loved shows such as The New Twilight Zone, The Original Twilight Zone, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Thriller, Night Gallery and Tales From the Crypt (not all in the same category, but you get the picture). I enjoy the programs that I remembered as a kid and and are a go to in my large collection of DVD’s to watch during down time or just for enjoyment.

Packaging not like picture
I haven't tried playing the DVDs, they are probably fine. The packaging is different than what is pictured. As seen in the picture it isn't glossy cardstock boxing but a plastic clam shell. The dvd holder inside doesn't even connect to the case in anyway. I'm very disappointed by the packaging.

Adoro i racconti del terrore! questa serie mi pare sia andata in onda in Italia con il nome "un salto nel buio". Gli episodi ci sono tutti ed il prezzo mi sembra vantaggioso. Consigliato agli amanti del genere.
