I was very hesitant to buy this due to the negative reviews regarding heat retention. And also that the lid was reported to get in the way of cleaning and pouring. I found out that if you press the lid down to seal it it works perfectly. You can also the tilt the lid out of the way when you’re cleaning it so it’s not in the way. My coffee is very close to as hot as it is coming out of the coffee maker at least 4-5 hours later….. it’s not just warm, it’s actually hot. I bought two other much more expensive options that didn’t work nearly as well as this one. They were 3 to 4 times the price so those have been returned and I’m keeping this one. It’s also very attractive and looks good on the counter. I think some of the negative reviews may be due to user error.

After a few months of use, the coating of the carafe's surface peeled off. That may contaminate the water you drink.
