Skar Audio TWS-01 1-Inch 240 Watt Max Power Neodymium Silk Dome Tweeters, Pair

Wow. So far, these Skar tweeters are a great improvement to my Toyota Tundra (2013) factory setup with no other changes. In my Tundra with non-JBL sound, the factory components are 4ohm BASIC speakers with very low power handling driven by the stock head unit. I just wanted a little better high-end clarity to supplement the paper cone door speakers. The door speakers sound ok. But the dash speakers are tiny 2-inch paper cone speakers, not even true tweeters, and had muffled marginal sound. I didn’t realize quite how bad they were until I swapped-in these Skar tweeters. Wow. I’m able to set the treble at 50% and have TONS of clarity and crisp detail. And not just cymbals and high hat. It enhanced vocals, guitar, synth, you name it. And they didn’t drain all the power that was needed to continue powering the door speakers. The door and dash speaker and wired in series, so if you go with a 2 ohm tweeter or high-end component, it may negatively affect the power supply to the door speaker. It’s a goofy factory setup. I tested with a high-end speaker and it absolutely killed the power reaching the door speaker. But this Skar pair worked great! I’m running without the crossover because it seem to sound better. But I’ve had no problems so far. I just wired the Skar terminals right to the factory wires and made some suspending brackets out of metal strapping. Super simple and crazy good upgrade for the money. If you don’t want to go down the insane upgrading rabbit hole, maybe give these a try.

The wiring for our TWS-01 | 1-Inch 80 Watt Silk Dome Tweeters is as follows: Solid Red Wire to Solid Red Wire on Capacitor = Positive Terminal Black Wire to Black/Red Wire on Capacitor = Negative Terminal Original review: So I have them in and they sound pretty good. They are not as tinny sounding as the last pair (different brand). I would give 5 stars, but the issue is the wires coming out of the tweeter are different colors than the ones coming out of the in line capacitor/crossover filtering (solid red and solid black from the tweeter and solid red, red w/black stripe going into and out of the filter). The wires going into the filter aren’t labeled with +/- either and you can’t visually see what is being filtered because of heat shrink. Also the wires coming out of the tweeter aren’t marked +/-, so it’s a guessing game. I wired them up by ear and they sound pretty good (but can’t be sure of the phasing without more testing). I had this issue with an old pair of tweeters and had to do the same thing and honestly it was a pain but I got it to work in the end. I’m going to call Skar tomorrow to get a definitive answer and will update accordingly. I mean for the price, they are pretty solid and are taking the power but I need to ensure the phasing for longer term sound quality/reliability.

Sounds better than expected

Built in crossover is great for running on non amplified door speakers. I installed them on my 2001 Dodge Dakota. I have 4 decent door speakers and a 10 in sub with a moderate mono amp in the back. The lower speakers had trouble filling the truck with audio at highway speeds. I bought these to bring treble up higher to counteract it. It made a huge difference and I'm going to buy two more for the rear to send it over the top. I used a 1.5in hole saw attachment and trimmed it with a dremmel. The brackets are just a hair too thick to allow the screws to go from the bracket to the back of the speaker, so I didn't use the metal brackets and jb welded the sleeve into place... it's not going anywhere. Dodge made things really easy and the factory tweeter location for upper models was embossed on the back of the door panel making it easy to know exactly where the hole should go, they also provided me with a harness to nowhere that I was able to use to wire them up. Overall I'm very impressed with the product. It does was I need it to do and at a value that's incredible. I will be buying another set for the rear.

Replaced my stock tweeter with these and they made a big difference, they sound really good. I’ve only had them on my car for a couple of months but I’m glad I got them.

Wow, the sound difference in my 2011Honda Accord. Easy installation. I did dremel the bracket a bit to get a flush mount.

I actually bought a similar item from Temu for $14 (US) and installed those a couple weeks ago. They sounded decent, actually. However, I blew them the first day. I was honestly really bummed. See, I got into building systems a little as a teen. We didn't get elaborate or scientific with ohm loads or tuning sub boxes or anything. We just partied and chased girls. I remember once rigging a CD Walkman up to an amplifier that was pushing boom box speakers and a 12 inch speaker from an old home stereo. We were pretty poor, and did what we could, not knowing any better. But, man, we would just cruise and cruise in my buddy's Chevette with these speakers. We even used spray tint in the windows and bolted wire looking hub caps with spinners on them to the wheels to look like Daytons. Lol we smoked a lot of weed, too. We had friends that hooked us up. It was often dirt weed, but it worked. Then I stopped partying for years. Didn't drink, smoke pot, or anything. Something happened, and I started drinking again. It slowly increased to where it became a big problem at home with my wife and kids. I got into some trouble, and stopped drinking. I needed something to occupy my myself, so I bought a little stereo equipment. I put a nice amp in my work van. My eldest son and I built a custom box tuned to 35hz for some awesome Sundown 10s (that slam). We swapped out all the stock 6x8s and added another amp for the new ones. I've designed a console we're going to start building to go on the ceiling of the van which will be professionally finished and house 2 6 inch mid bass woofers and two 3.5 inch Skar super tweeters. Under the first bench seat we installed a custom built box for a Massive Audio gtx 15 sub to get the lows the 10s aren't getting. It sounds pretty good so far. However, being I blew the really cheap Chinese tweeters, I bought better Chinese tweeters. The Skar tweeters in this review are pretty loud and sound OK, but I hate to say that the Temu tweeters may have sounded better. They're dead, though.

This is one of the best tweeters for enhancing high-frequency notes. If your car doesn't have a 6-speaker system, this is a great addition to bring out the much-needed highs. It also significantly improves vocal clarity, which often feels muffled in a standard 4-speaker setup. Highly recommended!!

Bought a JBL component system for $250, sounded nice but the tweeters were very harsh and tiney sounding , about two weeks later the one tweeter blew , so ordered a set of these skara , and what a difference, the highs sound so nice to the ears , clear , crisp and no harshness , or brash sounding like the JBl tweeter were , first time trying skar lineup and I kinda wish I had ordered a component speakers system from skar instead of JBL , I will try skar again when I will be upgrading my rear 6x9 , also need a sub so I will be looking into purchasing skar as well
