K'NEX Mighty Makers Fun On The Ferris Wheel Building Set

Edit 9/15/2019: made the pirate ship ride and realized that one of the super tiny pieces was missing. (See photo). Not worried about it, but not sure if all 14 pieces (we only have 13) are needed to make the boardwalk game! Didn’t think I’d have an issue, but we ran into one. It looks as though I got 9 of the long green pieces (see photos) and only 13 of the tiny black pieces (see photos)!Super cute. Got it for my 3.5 year old and she loved helping me put it together. The only problem we have with it is the weight of the gears on the back. You need something on the front to even it out. Other than that it’s pretty cool. Took us a few hours to put together. Also saw inside the book that came with it a photo of a pirate ship ride to make with the same pieces. We’ll most likely be making that another day. Well worth the price paid for this!!

Update: we built it wrong. Our mistake. All good. See photo for the mistake that we made. Seems like others may have made the same mistake. Also I contacted K'nex before I figured it out and they got back to me within 24 hours with the same solution. Great service!As some others have mentioned, ours does not form a complete circle for the Ferris Wheel. The bendy parts are too short or something.

Got this for my 7-yr old niece for Christmas, and just sat down with her to put it together on Sunday. All went well until we got to the part of assembling outer ring of the wheel...imagine our disappointment when the green pieces were TOO SHORT and didn't connect! I was able to salvage it by using some extra shorter pieces and electrical tape, but the wheel doesn't turn as smoothly as it should. Also, it's not necessary to "build" the girl and the bear, they should just come of-a-piece because with handling (attaching to, removing from the ferris wheel seats) they constantly fall apart. I'd like to buy a different K'nex kit but now I'm a little concerned about these issues, and that's too bad.

My daughter loved this. She just turned 5 and I thought this would be to hard, but after she got the hang of looking at the diagram, she was able to construct the items alone. I will purchase more!

My 5.5 year old daughter really enjoyed putting this together. It did not take her more than 1 hour with some adult help to put together. Really fun kit to build and also to play with afterwards!

This product has a great concept. However, it needs some work. The bear and the girl in the product were hard to get to snap together yet fell apart several times while my daughter was playing with them. The set I received was also missing pieces. If I had not had another set with the needed part we would not have been able to complete the set.

This set is not faulty, as other reviewers have said, but you do have to make sure you place the green rods in the right place. The poles do not go through the hole in the pink sections but click in underneath the hole. If you don't do this bit right then the wheel is too big and the pieces do not join up. Apart from getting this crucial bit wrong, and needing help to correct it, my 9 year built most of the set by herself. There were just a few bits too fiddly for her little hands. Once built, the wheel is lovely and my daughter enjoyed giving the girl and teddy in the set a ride.

My niece loved this. She sat down on boxing day and did it with her dad. She is only 6 and the age range on the box of 7plus is more realistic as she needed help, especially with connecting some of the pieces, but the idea was to give her a challenge she could do together with help from her dad, which is exactly what she did. There was hours of playing time in it too, thanks to the characters that come with it, so it wasn't just a case of constructing it and then moving on to something else. All in all a great product and good value for money.

This is a great construction set and my five year old loves it. Each section is build in the same way so once they have built one part their confidence grows and they quickly build the rest.

Bought for my daughter's 9th birthday. She put it together herself and is still playing with it weeks later.
