Final Spin: A Novel

Nope...stick to leadership
The writing style is different. I couldn't get into this book at all. I was Looking for something redeeming about my purchase. But...no. I will say that Arty is the best. About the only character that's likeable. I was thinking the whole time that extreme ownership might finally come into play. But....no. I am sure this book will relate to some folks out there in the Jocko fan club.

Terrific
Got kindle edition on release day, couldn't wait for mail. Crushed book in about 2 hours. Really enjoyed it. The stanza-like style made for a direct, no nonsense read.

Jocko's Fiction Debut
This books is a a quick read. It captures the desperation that someone living in a forgotten America may face as they're stuck in a dead end job desperate for an escape. It's written as a series of thoughts the protagonist has as is situation deteriorates as he frantically searches for a way out.All in all not bad. I think Jocko did a good job here.

This could have been a good book!
As a Jocko fan I really wanted to like this book. This seems more like a first draft that lacked character development. Lots of potential in the storyline but the book is really short (just over 200 pages in a small book with big spaced out print) so it reads more like a short story. It's not a bad book it just reads like it was never fully written. Awkward dialogue, confusing transitions, etc.

A quick read that I really enjoyed
I didn't expect to be as pulled in as I was to Jocko Willink's fiction debut. As many have noted, it is a very quick read. I read it in one sitting. Jocko uses very sparse and to-the-point fiction that effectively depicts the despair and discontent that many, stuck in dead-end jobs in depressed parts of the country feel. Going in I didn't now what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Pretty Good
Definitely a page turner - as soon as the book arrived I thought I would tear through a few pages maybe a chapter, couldn’t put the book down until it was finished. This is a very short read but I found the content enjoyable. Great story through and through I’m impressed I usually don’t read books of this kind but I made an exception because the author is exceptional.

Has potential!
Very quick read. Read the entire book in a couple hours. The characters don't have much time to develop. I didn't love the ending. But it's Jocko... I'll support him whatever he's doing!

Keeps moving
I love the writing style, short stanzas with well places punctuations. The prose doesn’t have any extra flourishes, just what you need to keep moving. The typeface looks like typewriter and the paper is nice, like books were 30+ years ago when the novel takes place. The book goes fast, it look two sittings to complete and was enjoyable.
