You have to format the drive first before it can work with this device. We are so use to plug and play that we forget the basics. And by we I mean me. Once the drive is formatted you can use this device with no problem. Spent a few hours using strong vocabulary until I remember that you have to format the drive in order to prepare it for the operating system. The device worked fine.

I like this new dual deck. Only issue is that it has a small security issue with Windows 11. It installs fine , Windows just disables a few security features that may be important to some

I have 2 of this model and 2 of an older version (Thermaltake BlacX Duet 5G ST0022U). 3 are all attached simultaneously to my iMac. The other is on a Windows 10 NUC. The older version had some difficulties if you mixed HDD sizes and/or brands in the same docking station. So far, I have not had that issue with this newer version. I have HDDs from WD and Seagate, ranging from 1TB to 14TB WD Red. One complaint is that HDD removal is usually a 2-handed operation. When you push the slide button on the side to remove the HDD, it is supposed to 'lock' temporarily in the up position, but for me they often fall back into the dock. I find that I need to hold the button down and remove the HDD with the other hand. Other than that, these have been reliable (knock on wood!) and I am very satisfied with them. My iMac is old, so just USB2. The Windows box is USB3. Works fine with both, but of course, a LOT faster if you can use USB3. As far as corrupting data, that hasn't happened to me. I always Eject (Safely Remove) both drives in the dock and then power-off the dock before removing the drives. I never try to remove one of the drives while the dock is turned-on. Maybe that procedure has helped avoid the corruption problem, or maybe I've just been lucky. Overall, very pleased with the docks!

Pros: 1. Easy to use USB connect and requires power supply (comes with product). 2. Fairly fast and adequate. 3. Can copy/duplicate entire hard drive to another one. 4. Encrypted disks function just fine with this device. Cons: 1. The hard drive openings can allow dust to enter. 2. If you remove one disk, they both disconnect. -- This is my fourth one, I bought this one as a Christmas gift for wife. She was running out of room on her laptop saving photos that she takes with her camera. I will buy more of these unless they invent something new. NOTE: Any hard drive can fail, even the Solid State drives so make duplicates and store them in a second location! I paid $39.53 on December 19, 2022.

Works great! Replaced a different one, cheaper, that didn't work and had to be replaced..and that one didn't work..just junked it instead of messing about...stuck the drive in and it came right up...no problem...worth the couple extra bucks...you get what you pay for...

(This is for the dual drive USB version). Died after about six weeks, just outside Amazon's 30-day return policy. The "manufacturer's warranty through Amazon" turned out to be that Amazon would give me Thermaltake's contact info and offer to intermediate if something went wrong. So I contacted Thermaltake and they sent a replacement (note: for cross shipping, you will have to pay first and then receive a refund; there is no courtesy period). The replacement dock worked for about five weeks, and then also failed. With both docks the initial failure was a seemingly random disconnect, with the OS reporting that connected drives hadn't been ejected properly. Over a period of a week or two these disconnections increase in frequency to the extent that the OS can't even finish validating the connected drive(s) before the dock disconnects again. If the dock disconnected while a file write operation was in process, the file would be corrupted. I ended up buying a Thunderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 3 adapter from Apple so I could use my old Thunderbolt dock HighPoint Dual-Bay Thunderbolt 10Gbps Storage Dock (RocketStor 5212) on my new iMac. The Thunderbolt dock has been completely reliable for two years, across an older Mac mini and my new iMac. This Thermaltake USB dock has not.

Able to use 2 devices with one USB connection. 3.0 speeds, max size of 1TB for each drive. Great for offline storage and for additional drives on the computer.

Estoy muy satisfecho con la compra, ha pesar que no le he dado demasiado uso, pero el poco uso que le he dado a la Estación de Acoplamiento es Muy buena. y si la usas en un Puerto USB 3.0 la velocidad de transferencia de daatos es increible. Asi que no me queda mas que decir que el producto es muy bueno, me parecio algo costoso, pero valio la pena la compra. el vendedor super recomendado. El envio fue rapido y agil.
