Shimano SG-8S31 Alfine/Nexus small parts kit

Worked perfectly for my rear hub, changed a rear wheel assembly and the IGH I purchased didn’t come with this part. C6001, but the cost was inline with bicycle shops and available sooner. If you need it buy it it works well.

Fit perfect with my nexus 8 hub. Needed to replace original assembly after I damaged the cable clamp, not a separate part, like an idiot in a hurry to fix it the first time, always plenty of time to fix it the second time.

Received this shifter in like one day. Just as pictured. Mounted easily and adjusted the cable easily, then away i go.

If you've purchased a wheel with a Shimano Alfine hub, to install it on a bike that didn't previously have it, you will need three other things: 1. Shimano SG-3C40 Nexus Sprocket (18T) 2. Shimano small parts kit (this product) 3. Shimano Alfine & Nexus Hub Shift Cable Fixing Bolt Unit The sprocket is sold separately because it comes in different sizes. I can't figure out why the fixing bolt unit is sold separately. It's only an extra $3, but it's highly annoying to be putting everything together and realize you are missing one part. What's the deal, Shimano?

I bought this to install a shimano alfine 8 internal gear hub and it works great. It had the appropriate washers for my drops, and it is nice insurance to have the small plastic bits around in case of a mishap.

This cassette joint recommended to purchase with my Alfine 8 SG-S7001-8 was the wrong model for my Alfine 8. This one has wider notches and does not lock into place. had to purchase the Cj-S7000 separately, but will use the other parts that came with this kit. I recommend checking compatibility before purchasing,

I gave a 3 stars because although the description of the kit said it was for my Alfine 8 Speed, one part, the major one, was the wrong one. On the other hand, the customer service was good. I got myself a brand new Alfine 8 speed IGH. Since I am new to the Internal Geared Hub scene I looked at the description of the item. The first line in the description is: "Required for installation of Alfine 8S IGH hubs." I have an Alfine 8 speed hub, this says it is for an Alfine 8 speed so I ordered one. When it arrived I went on youtube and followed a video on how to install the components I had just received. I installed the snap ring for sprocket retention and the driver cap. Next was the cassette joint. No matter how much I tried to get it to go on the hub there was no way this contraption would fit in place. When I looked at the inside I noticed that the markings inside the cassette joint were not the same as the ones on the hub. I did some research and found an exploded view of the parts for the Alfine 8 Speed. I found out that the proper part number for the cassette joint should be CJ-S7000. The one I got in this kit was a CJ-8S20. So for those who are new to the Alfine IGH keep this in mind. After contacting the seller, Layger, they quickly resolved the problem to my satisfaction.
