No, Syrian Hamsters require at least 600 SQ inch of floor space and a container that will hold at least 7-8 inch of bedding even more for larger breed hamsters. This is more for a bug pet.

How many hermit crabs would be ok in here?

Hermit crabs are one per ten gallon. So if you have a 30 gallon tank you can have 3 average sized crabs. That accounts for food and water dishes and extra shells (you should have at least 5 extra shells per crab). I have no clue how many gallons this holds but also remember you have to have a large amount of substrate for them to burrow in and molt. You also need to keep them warm and I do not think this tank is a good choice for a heating lamp. Go with a Reptizoo product. Your crabs have a better chance of living a long life in one of those. I’ve had my crabs for 5 years now.
