Not 100% sure but it had everything I needed. I done a 2000 R1 with the kit

Hello, I made the mistake of buying this part without asking the question you are asking. Reason I did that was because I took apart my bike's starter & it very similar (almost exact) to what the picture shows. When I got the part I realized that while they look almost identical the the main difference between older models vs 2006+ is that the electric (the wiring) is at the opposite side. In other words the long and short shafts at each end are are at opposite sides for 2006+ models. Short answer- No, this part will not work. I returned the the kit to amazon. Since amazon does not sell the correct kit I had to buy the correct one directly from Ricks Motorsports Manufacturer Part Number 70-603 (watch out because the only difference between this part and the correct one is that last number. A 3 instead of a 2). They carry it and have it in stock- just checked. Good news is that when I did get the correct part and installed it- it worked perfectly. (Hint: Make sure you put the carbons in the right place (mark them when you take them out of needed). If mess up, you'll inverse the rotation of the starter and it won't crank the engine. Rick's kit works like a charm!

Rebuilt and installed in my 2001 R1. I don think the starter ever spun so fast since I've bought it in '04. Rick's kit is the real deal!
