HG Terracotta Cleaner Extra Strong, Product 87, Concentrated Cleaning for Removal of Grease, Polish, Protective Films & Ingrained Dirt, For All Types of Terra Cotta Floors - 1 Litre (194100106)

After scrubbing a large area of 90 year old quarry tiles throughout my kitchen and hallway with undiluted Asevi heavy duty floor cleaner, I was unhappy with the results.Then I took a punt with this cleaner, same process, tackling ~1Sqm at a time, undiluted, scrub into the tiles, leave it for 10 minutes, heavy scrub again and clean it off with fresh hot water.Oddly, it initially left the grout lines blacker than before I started which was worrying, however once left overnight they dried out to the lightest colour I’ve ever seen them!As you can see from the photo, there is a very clear difference to the Asevi clean (bottom of the photo) and the HG clean (top of the photo)I’m currently going back over the whole area with this HG cleaner and it is really working a treat. I never thought I’d see my old tiles looking this clean.It’s worth noting that I’ve also begun steak cleaning the grout lines prior to applying the HG cleaner, and that’s make an even better difference.

Use gloves, may need to use more than once to get best results.I had 3 goes to get desired result.

If you are prepared to get on your knees and scrub your floor this is a real find. I have a 400 yr old cottage with an old red brick floor and old terracotta tiles in the corridor. I also used this on the 400 year old red brick fireplace. I was able to remove years of engrained dirt and black marks and bring them back to their original state. I used half a litre to cover around 30sqm. I poured it directly onto the floor and immediately scrubbed then left the product on for around 20 minutes to then wash the floor at least 4 times with luke warm water. Once completely dry I then used HG Terracotta Shine Seal on the floor only ( see my review of this product) which gave a matt yet shiny finish. The result was just as I had hoped. I am now washing the floor with HG Clean and shine and do buff the floor up now and again with a polisher. I had considered getting a professional company in to do the floors but am pleased now I didn't, with just £50 and a lot of elbow grease not only have I saved a considerable amount of money but I have a significant amount of personal satisfaction.

Good product for all floors

Used to clean old terracotta tiles found under carpets in the floods on 1/January/2025,they cleaned the tiles very well but I would follow the instructions carefully as leaving on too long could damage the finish on the tile,the cleaner removes ingrained grime so quite strong leaving the tiles clean and bright with negligible smell but I did have the doors open,the cleaner was good value for money as I now love the terracotta tiling on show,Highly Recommended.
