O.M.G.! I am so loving this Carene. I hesitated and the price was not low but I think overall what a great decision it was when I decided to buy this. amazing fountain pen!Of course I had my eyes on the Waterman expert and the Waterman hemisphere fountain pen as well. But having the Ici et La waterman fountain pen, I thought the 'hemisphere' was on the same level, so I left that one out, but I will probably get it later. In the meantime, as i was narrowing my selections and had my eye on the red carene, I decided to buy the black with the gold rim, and in addition also get the Waterman "expert" with the silver rim. so for both I paid $247 including tax (! bummer) but I am loving both of these pen. Totally different from each other. Now in the reviews I read that many people found that the 'medium' nib was a little on the 'broad' side for the carene, for me, I like medium and have always bought the medium nib fountain pen, but this one is a tiny bit wider, and so it is ok with me, not a big deal at all. With a wider head/nib there will be a little more ink used, and the spacing will be affected, but the flow is amazing, the pen is running so smoothly on the page, I am loving it, and carrying both with me at all times right now.. till the fever subsides. Great quality pen, great workmanship, you can see it when u remove the barrel look at the inside at the junction where you add the converter, and it speaks volume, My only regret is that I could not afford the red or the blue or the white as they were out of my pocket range!

I am new to the fountain pen world but must admit I have amassed quite the collection to date. Waterman kept coming up over and over again as some of the best fountain pens and I will admit I dismissed it as fanboyism. Am I glad I was WRONG! I purchased the Carene in black Sea. The pen is GORGEOUS. The nib which I was on the fence when I pulled it out of its beautiful presentation box made me pause I prefer broad nibs and assumed this would be more of a fine than a medium. WRONG again! This is a medium which feels like more of a broad. To say that I am happy would be an understatement. If I could, I would buy these in EVERY single color. The Carene feels, writes and looks like a premium fountain pen. I now understand the love that the fountain pen community has for the Waterman fountain pen line it is well deserved. Part of me wants to make this my EDC another part of me wants to set it up in a shrine. This is the kind of pen that makes a superior gift and would put a fountain pen lover over the moon. Not enough wonderful things can be said about this pen.

Love at first sight! Basically a French version of the Lamy 2000, with a better nib. Weight and balance are outstanding. It seems to be very well made. The feed has no problems (so far) with R & K Salix which flows well. I consider it an acceptable value. I believe it’s worth the price.

This is a really beautiful pen. It's not exactly hooded, but the nib integrates with the body on a perfect design making it feel like a hooded pen. It's just a beautiful pen all around. Body, cap, nib, everything. The gloss brown lacquer of the body is perfect and it writes very smoothly. If Montblanc made a pen like that it would charge at least triple the price and I doubt that it would be a better pen. For the record, I also own Montblanc fountain pens, and they are definitely better than the Waterman (I also have other Waterman pens). But this Waterman Carène is special. One of my favorite pens.

No la recomendaría a nadie que busque una pluma fiable y funcional.

Don't let this one rest flat, for example inside a fountain pen display case. Keep it stored vertically. Mine leaks fiercely whenever it is flat. However, that is the only gripe I have about it. It writes amazingly smooth, so comfortable to hold, so comfortable to write with. I can use a light touch and still get beautiful and bold lines.

The pen came from Amazon Global, most likely Japan. Unboxing the fountain pen was a wonderful experience. This model comes with an 18 carat gold nib, with pure gold accents. Unlike the Expert, and other lower priced pens, it is delivered with a converter installed, and a blue cartridge, as well as the guarantee paperwork. I always fill this out, and file it, in case I want to send the pen to France for a new nib, whatever. Inked it with J Herbin Noir Abyssal and the gold nib flowed over my note paper without a trace of skip, or scratch. Delivery was slow, a good two weeks. This is the second pen I've bought from Amazon Global and both have been perfect in every way.

I have admired the Waterman Carène from afar for years but never owned one until now. I find it to be beautiful, well made, and a good fit for my flabby hands.The nib is fairly stiff, but I expected that given its inset into the section. Nevertheless, it is reasonably expressive, leaving a moderately wet line that allows some variation in line width.I enjoy looking at it, and I enjoy writing with it even more.

Purtroppo la fotografia non rende giustizia a questa magnifica penna stilografica, ma se andate a vedere i dettagli vi renderete conto di come realmente è.Le rifiniture sono color oro così come è d'oro il pennino. Il resto della penna è di color bordeaux, ma non uniforme, sembra quasi marmo. Il tocco di estrema eleganza è sulla parte superiore del cappuccio: un cerchio dorato con all'interno un disco color bordeaux ma unito e lievemente più chiaro.Un vero gioiello per gli amanti delle care vecchie penne stilografiche e pure ad un prezzo decisamente accessibile.Che cosa mi dispiace? Era un regalo e per quanto l'abbia fatto volentieri, in fondo in fondo, mi è dispiaciuto doverla dare via.Ma quando la mia cara vecchia stilografica perderà colpi, vi assicuro che l'acquisterò per me stessa.

De las mejores plumas que tengo, casi una compra a ciegas. Muy bien construida y acabada, buenos materiales, equilibrio y suavidad del trazo. El mejor precio en comparación con otros sitios. Excelente.

The fountain pen itself is good. however warranty information is incorrect. It claimed 3 year international warranty, possibly extend to 5 years. Actually their official website shows two year warranty and not able to extend (at least not in Singapore).

Ce stylo plume Waterman Carène Black Sea offre un confort d’écriture exceptionnel et une prise en main très agréable. L’expérience qu’il procure est remarquable, à mon sens au niveau des plumes de très haute gamme comme Montblanc.Le prix, bien qu’élevé, reste dans la moyenne basse des instruments d’écriture haut de gamme.Un excellent choix pour qui recherche une plume alliant performance et élégance. Je recommande sans hésiter !
