Yes, this item is a set of 1 first day sign and 1 last day sign.

How do I get the writing off the board that came pre-written in the spaces on it.

You can’t. These are not as advertised. They’re painted wooden plaques. Shop on Etsy for first day of school chalk boards.

Does the name come on slate?

The name does not come pre-printed. The signs allow the user to write the name and details about the student.

I thought these were chalkboards. Mine is a flimsy plastic. Is that how they are supposed to come?

These are chalkboard signs, made of plastic.
