Excellent quality and design, much better than another I checked.
I ordered two different electric fireplace heaters after doing hours of research. I saw this one at the very beginning because it was at top of the page. However, the price was much higher than some others and I thought I could spend half as much and get something as nice. After weeding out the many units that were made of plastic, too noisy, flame effects that didn’t look great, ones without quartz infrared bulb or fans, little by little I was pushed toward this one and another. I ordered both so I could compare them. The first was okay and I would have kept it, but this one is better beyond compare. It’s quieter, far far far more believable and beautiful flame illusion, better remote control, better sound when using remote (clicking instead of obnoxious, loud beeping). One think I was looking for but a little uncertain about was how good the heating would be. I am highly impressed. I wanted the air to warm and didn’t want concentrated, intense heat near the heater. This is nice because it blows a soft, warm wind toward you that you can feel the warmth from very well from 8 feet away. I’m using it to heat one large bedroom with desk where it was difficult to work in the cool weather. This is so, so nice, and I’ve tried other types of space heaters. The price is on the higher side, but the quality is so much better that it’s well worth spending a little extra.

Awesome. I cannot and will not review the 'heat' ...
Awesome. I cannot and will not review the 'heat' aspect of this faux fireplace insofar as I have no need to use it as a heater. I wanted a 'fireplace affect' for my high-rise two-bedroom condominium (in the living room). Is it the greatest faux fireplace in the world? Probably not. But, unless you want to pay gobs of money (or, while you're your saving gobs of money) for the current faux fireplaces on the market; this is probably the best alternative at the best price. Coffee Fan's video shows you what you need to see. The fire display is very authentic. I would surmise that it actually is on some kind of 'loop' insofar as it repeats itself; but, I gotta tell you - you can't figure it out!! To this end, Duraflame created an extremely authentic fire display that moves and evolves as naturally as a real fire in a fireplace would. In terms of 'did it live up to the proverbial hype'? I would say 'yes'. It is SMALL, for sure (roughly 2'x2'). I wish Duraflame would come out with this exact same thing with options of 3'x3' or 4'x4'. That said, however, this little puppy sufficiently creates the ambiance of a fireplace, in small spaces, if that's what you're looking for in confined and limited areas. For example, I can't have a gas fireplace here because condominium bylaws don't allow me to install extra gas lines. To this extent, I'm limited in what I can actually put in this place. As they improve technology, etc., perhaps, one day, that won't be a problem. In the meantime, this is probably your best bet if you're specifically looking for 'fireplace ambiance' in small and bylaw-limited spaces. Just the mere sight of it inspires that 'cozy inside' feeling normally attributed to real fireplaces (which is why we love them). If that 'cozy inside' fireplace ambiance is what you're looking for - and you can't/don't have a real fireplace - this is your next best option without installing some sort of $2,000 faux fireplace. It sufficiently does the trick. At the very least, given the price, try it out and see how you feel about it. That's what I did. For the heater: I have no need for it as a heater; however, I did turn on the fan out of curiosity. I agree with reviews that said it was relatively low noise level. You can hear it; but it's not obtrusive (subjective point of view, of course; but it's not loud). I live in a quasi-urban/suburban area; lots of ambient background sound (e.g., highways, sirens, dogs barking). It wasn't any more noticeable than that (more like background noise). If you live in a quiet suburban/rural area where ambient sound might be customarily relatively low, (e.g., crickets, occasional dog barking) it might sound louder to you. Apologize, I can't speak to it's ability to heat a room; I bought it specifically for a faux fireplace affect. Durability: Unknown at this time. I got this thing two days ago and have run it nearly constantly for those two days. It's early December here now....I'll try and post back a couple months from now and let you all know how it's performance was over the course of time. Sound: None. It will not provide any kind of crackling/pop noise associated with either real fireplaces or wood-burning stoves. The aesthetic is visual only (but still sufficient to provide 'inside cozy' fireplace affect from visual perspective). If you're using it as a heater, then fan noise comments above apply. Little baby fake fireplace = pretty awesome. Packs a big punch for its small size. Going to get my glass of wine, my kittens, and watch my favorite re-runs on TV while I'm enjoying my little faux fireplace. Feeling pretty snuggy warm here. That sums up the affect if you're looking for faux fireplace affect only.

Great investment!
Easy set up! Reasonably priced. Nice cozy way to add warmth. No smell. Soft firelight. Just exactly what I needed to warm up a basement living space. Perfect! Worth every penny.

Great function and aesthetics, some noise
The fireplace is attractive and sturdy. The flame effect is very realistic and it puts out a good amount of heat with very little blower noise. It provides great supplemental heat, even in an open layout for our 1000 square foot first floor. When set at 76 degrees F it kept the temperature of our open layout living room very cozy all day with 5 degree outdoor temperatures. I love the ambiance it adds to my boring, traditional living room. The remote is acceptable once you've settled on settings that you prefer and only want to use the on/off feature. However, when settings need to be adjusted on the fireplace itself, it's challenging. The controls are hidden behind the door and blacked out. This is aesthetically pleasing, but makes it difficult to adjust, particularly in low light situations. The most significant downside for me is the whirring, mechanical hum that comes from the fireplace when the flickering flames are on. It seems to be related to a device rotating within the unit. It's very noticeable in a quiet setting, such as sitting down to read a book near the fire. If there's music or television on, it's not a problem.

Phenomenal heater to invest in!
I have four of these now. I bought one in November 2019, one in December 2019, one in September 2021, and my fourth in January 2026. The first three I bought were black, and the new one I just got is cinnamon color. The one thing they all have in common? — They all still work, and heat very very well, as good as the day I bought them. The thermostat is very finicky with fluctuations. 74 may be way too hot, or leave the room cold. So I do have to adjust the thermostat frequently. The remote has a setting to switch the heating off (temp then reads 00), and then back on with another push. So you can run it a little high and just turn it to inactive if you get too hot. But I don’t even care. Because they heat exceedingly well even after over 6 years with the oldest. Other heaters we have owned from other brands in the past have all burned out and quit heating after a while, and they’ve had to be junked. Not these. I have slowly invested in the ones I have to heat the various areas of my house, and they are what I consider an investment. They are also very safe and operate well, so long as you plug them into their own dedicated outlet. Do not use an extension cord or plug them into any sort of splitter or otherwise unit that plugs into the outlet itself. Plug it directly into an outlet of its own and make sure nothing else shares the same breaker, to be safe. From what I read, they pull 1500W when heating. They’re costly at around $260 currently plus tax, but as I said, it’s an investment. They heat a fairly large area very comfortably and quickly. I kind of wish I’d invested in some colored options sooner, because the new cinnamon one I got is gorgeous! Love the richness of the color. Spend the money; you won’t regret it! It works well, the flame effect is very pretty, and they have no unpleasant smells or odors, unlike other heaters that can smell like plastic burning. BONUS: My cat loves sleeping on top of it. She has done so for years and has never been harmed by it. It’s warm on top but not unbearably so. So if your pets love it, do not be alarmed!

I bought this 7 years ago…
I bought this product in November of 2019. (Note: It is now February 2026 and I still stand by my review) I have enjoyed this product so much. It heats nicely, however, I didn't really buy it for heat, but have used it to supplement on some really cold days over the years. I would not recommend this product as a MAIN heat source as this or any other stove of this class, in my opinion, is not built in such a way to be anything other than a decorative and an occasional, supplemental, and attended heat source. I have had a real cast iron stove (vermont castings with the fire glass window) a wee bit bigger than this, and I missed just seeing the flame after I moved. The flame is nicely realistic. This runs LEDs for realistic flames display. I put it away in the summer in a closet and cover it to keep the dust off and remove the battery from the remote and place the remote inside on the logs when stored. I pull it out in October, put a battery into the remote and turn it on ( the LED fire lights) and it still is like new. I run lights mostly all fall and winter, until spring warmth during the waking hours. My dog actually likes to lay in front of it. All that is to say, I have never regretted this purchase. It warms the “feel and look” of any room it is placed in. It has been a great product these five years. I am of the opinion you get what you pay for with these stoves. (Also, an important feature I wanted was the vent to be on the TOP not the bottom, which five years ago when I bought my stove this was only one of maybe 2 or 3 models that offered the top vent in any brand). This product has the top vent, and it is vented on the ends as well. When the heat runs, the stove body does not get hot, but the air blowing from the vent is , so if you have toddlers, you would want to ensure the front vent heat blowing out doesn't blow into their eyes….I have used a screen when necessary with visitors with small children. Be sure to plug into the wall socket direct, not through a power/surge protector strip. The stove I have does not have a grounded plug so I do occasionally touch the cord at the back to check the cord heat if I run the heater portion for a while, which could be a little and barely warm, but not hot. BEFORE I bought this Duraflame stove product, I had purchased a much cheaper one. The vent was on the bottom of this cheaper stove, and when I did run the heat, which was not often, it delaminated a soft-lay laminate floor in front of the vent which was on the bottom front. When I noticed it, I didn't have my remote handy and just unplugged it, the cord and plug was very hot, so I cut the cord off even at the back of the stove and disposed of the unit. No more cheap stoves for me as this was an alarming experience, as well as a developing hazard and no matter the brand, I will always monitor the cord and the product for safety due to my own personal experience. All in all, This Duraflame stove, again has been a very, very nice product, and I have not had any problems with my unit and I am happy to give it a great review. Edit 2026: I came back to say 7 years and still going, and Im starting a new season. I run my lights most days all winter and after 7 years, my stove and its lights still run and looks great!

Warm, Quiet, and Beautifully Realistic
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 – Warm, Quiet, and Beautifully Realistic Product: Duraflame Freestanding Electric Fireplace Stove (Black) Model: Heater with 3D Flame Effect for up to 1,000 Sq. Ft. This Duraflame electric fireplace has quickly become one of my favorite home purchases. The 3D flame effect looks incredibly realistic and adds a warm, cozy atmosphere to any space. I love that the flame can be used with or without heat, so it’s perfect year-round. The heat output is excellent, easily warming my large living area. The heating unit runs quietly, so it’s never distracting. One small drawback is that the temperature adjustment can only be done directly on the heater, not from the remote. The remote also responds a bit slowly, but it still gets the job done for basic on/off and flame controls. Another big plus is that the top of the stove doesn’t get hot, which makes it safe around pets and children. Assembly was super simple—only the legs needed to be attached, and it was ready in minutes. ✅ Pros: Realistic 3D flame effect Quiet operation Top stays cool to the touch Flame can be used without heat Quick, easy leg assembly ⚠️ Cons: Heat temperature must be adjusted on the unit (not from the remote) Remote response is a little slow Verdict: This Duraflame freestanding fireplace stove delivers on both looks and performance. It’s quiet, safe, and creates a beautiful, relaxing glow. A great choice for anyone who wants a stylish and reliable way to add warmth and charm to their home.

Purchased 11/24, RIP 01/26
This heater was an absolute powerhouse - until it wasn't. Our split level home has baseboard heaters which are expensive to run and from what I've heard, a fire hazard. Our first winter here, our electric bill was over $300 during the cold months. I did extensive research and found that the modern space heaters are so much more efficient than days of old. After additional research into the one to buy, this one won out. I purchase two actually. One for at the bottom of our lower stairwell (this would be our go-to, first line of defense during cold weather), and one for upstairs. We also have a tv stand with one in it (our #2 heater to turn on, depending on low temps). The upstairs one would be used if it was VERY cold... cold like we're getting tonight through Sunday... 5 below cold. That being said, this one, our downstairs one has now died. It basically lasted 2 winters. It blows air, but the heating element quit working just today. Do I think this is a good product? Yes. Am I disappointed in its lifespan? Also yes. If you only use this heater periodically, you got it made and it should last a while. If you're using continuously like I am, you may want to reconsider. (We're hoping to install split levels at some point...)

Excelente producto
