Q: what is the greeting card like?

My original purchase did not come with a greeting card, I was issued a whole new lamp and everything then came with it including the ribbon and nicer box

Q: Will it work plugged in or does it need to fully charge first because mine is not lighting up plugged in?

Then it probably needs to charge first. I would try that and if it still doesn't light up contact support. The one I bought was a gift for my sister. I do not know if she had to charge it or not. There should be instructions in the package for it. Hers came with instructions.
