Q: does this tv have a web browser?

It does not have HULU. I bought this because the person who answered your question said it did. I just got off the phone with LG and there isn't even a way to download apps that already loaded onto the TV. Some of their models support HULU but not all. This one does not. You can get it if you put a use an Amazon Fire stick, but then there's no point to buy a smart TV if you have to use a fire stick or Roku.

Q: Does it have a coax connection for cable tv?

Yes - this TV has a standard coax connection and HDMI, and Component (RCA) input jacks.

Q: Can I watch Amazon Prime instant video?

Yes you can. Press the HOME button on the remote control. It is recommended to check either the APPS & GAMES field, or the PREMIUM field, to search for the Amazon Video or Amazon Prime application.

Q: is there a 2017 model? if so, what is the difference?

Cannot say if there is a 2017 model. This T.V. I believe is a 2016. Either way this is a nice ( small ) unit and works well for my need. I would highly recommend for a small room.
