IT WORKS!
I was skeptical of this gun before I purchased, but with a few minutes spent adjusting the depth gauge, it drove caps and nails like a champ! This is a clever tool, well built, and durable. The caps are pricey, but after driving thousands of roof caps by hand on my last house, the price is more than balanced by speed and ease of use.

Professional tool
Bought this gun a few years ago, and we've used it on 20+ projects. Durable and reliable. Doesn't work quite as well in extreme cold, but other than that it's been excellent. Our crews are thankful when they get to use it.

This gun does not feed the plastic caps correctly
This gun does not feed the plastic caps correctly. Not sure if it’s just the one I ordered or all of them.

Works well...
I bought this while reroofing my home. Nailing down tarpaper is no fun by hand so I got this after reading the reviews. I will say that Bostitch got the design right on this one as far as the function of the gun. I was completely amazed that it worked. I only had one misfire out of about 2000 caps that I shot. This is the downside. I shot 2000 caps into 1100 square feet of roof. This is probably 3x as much as if I had nailed by hand. The hand-nail button caps hold much better than these do, partially because of the way the plastic caps are designed. You'll see when you get them. If I had this to do over again, I would have still bought this gun so I guess it was worthwhile for me.Also, the bump action might work ok for housewrap, but for tarpaper on and 8/12 roof, it was not consistent enough to properly set the nails in the caps. I almost took a ride off the roof as I realized that a piece of paper I was standing on was starting to slide out from under me. After this, I used more nails and watched very closely to make sure the nails were being set properly. If not, I would shoot another until I felt confident that it would hold my weight.
