too narrow for a 9 speed!
Per Park Tools, a 9 speed cassette is used with a chain 6.5 mm to 7.0 mm. My Trek will run smoothly with up to a 7.3. But these links are 6.4 mm, too small for any standard 9 speed chain. The links are marked '9S', but they are _not_ a standard fit.
