Built to impress, but...
This looks very sophisticated when you first unwrap it. Inside the wooden windowsill planter are packages containing seed pods, compost pellets, biodegradable pots, snippers, and an instruction leaflet for each herb. But then the romance begins to wear off. The naff plastic lid that is supposed to go over the planter simply doesn't fit. The planter itself is not very deep and very narrow; no herb will be happy growing in it for any length of time. One of the herbs (Rosemary) takes an age to grow from seed and is much better raised from cuttings. Although the blurb that goes with the kit says it hopes it will teach you about the medicinal use of herbs, there is no further information on this. Frankly, this is a kit simply made to impress and if you want to impress a friend by giving them this, then so be it. If it's for you, I would suggest growing your windowsill herbs in tall (4"+) yogurt pots drilled for drainage and filled with seed compost. Cover each with clingfilm (or even the yogurt lid!) and place on saucers on a south facing window sill. Take the film off as soon as you see seedlings appearing. Water once a week into the saucers.

A lovely herb growing set - what a great gift!
I love this indoor herb garden kit. The packaging and, indeed, the whole package is designed beautifully and with very little plastic in sight - hurray! There's a plastic insert for the bamboo planter in order to stop any water damage but that's pretty much it. The seeds are organic and sourced from small farms, which is nice to know, and the coir growing discs are also organic and hopefully relatively environmentally-friendly. I know that Fleur du Bien are trying to provide everything that's needed in the one kit but I feel that the sprayer bottle is a little unnecessary and may go unused in many people's houses. I'm sure that most people are capable of watering without a sprayer and may well have already have one or can get one if they really feel that it's needed. The bamboo planter is really lovely - extremely pretty to look at and well made. This is so much nicer than the plastic pots that I have previously grown things such as herbs and chillies indoor in. It's not huge and I can't imagine that you could manage to sensibly cram all 10 different herbs in it at once but, to be honest, most of the time I'll only be growing 4 or 5 of my favourites and might grow some of the others in a separate pot.As a package this herb growing kit is really beautiful and definitely a cut above most offerings. It comes with a premium price tag which I think seems a little pricey but, to be honest, the bamboo planter sold separately would cost quite a bit I would imagine. If you have someone in your life that would appreciate fresh, home-grown herbs and a thoughtful planet-friendly gift then this might be a really good option.

I've got herbs growing on my windowsill!
This is a lovely looking set all round. The kit arrived in a thick cardboard box that looks nice and protects the insides. I love the wooden trough that hides the plastic insert to stop any leakages. I really liked that everything needed to start up was provided. I did wonder why they had provided a cork stopper for the pots, but then discovered this was the soil discs for the seeds to grow in. The seeds come in lovely little individual pots - and I thought there were plenty of seeds to get a good few plants growing and grow more from them once they are established. I thought the manual was really helpful and I've learned that if I'm cold, my herbs will probably be cold and this can hinder growth. I even like the spray bottle. We use it for other plants in the house and to dampen my daughters hair before styling. While the set is really gorgeous, and I can't wait to start cooking with my herbs and repotting them as they grow, I do think that £69.00 is a little expensive. However, I might find in the long run that this is a great investment and I never buy herbs again.

A stunning set that would make a perfect gift
This is such a good quality, beautiful item.First off you get a gorgeous wooden window box complete with plastic inserts. It’s very sturdy, well made, has little feet on the bottom, drainage holes and a makers brand on the bottom left hand corner.Inside this there is:-A box containing compacted soil which you add water to and it expands.-A box with 10 little pots containing seeds to grow mint, oregano, coriander, rosemary, rocket, chives, basil, dill, parsley and thyme.-Ten beautiful wooden plant labels that have the name of the herb branded on the front and a section for ‘date planted’ on the back.-A spritzer bottle for watering.-10 biodegradable plant pots.-A pair of snips for pruning.-A very comprehensive guide for growing your herbs. It really is a gorgeous set. Very well thought out and put together with everything you need to have a garden windowsill of herbs. I’m not sure that 10 herbs would be happy in the tray together as I feel they’d be a little squashed, however you don’t need to grow them all at once and you can transplant them to larger pots when they’re bigger.I also love the fact that practically everything in there is recyclable. This would make an amazing gift for anyone who loves to grow indoor plants/herbs.

Wow, this set is amazing! Everything in this set screams quality, from the box it came in to printed instructions. Nothing feels cheap, just pure quality. The bamboo planter got a plastic insert to prevent the box from moisture. The instructions are easy to follow providing hints and tips how to plant herb seeds in this set. This set provides everything you need to plant herbs, no need to buy additional items.Being a keen gardener myself I was delighted to receive this organic home garden seed kit, after planting the seeds I’m looking forward for them to grow. This kit would also make a lovely gift for someone who is into gardening.
