A project guitar
When it comes to buying inexpensive (under $600) guitars, you have to expect that not everything is going to be perfect. This LTD is no exception. The pros - excellent neck profile and feel (after fret polishing), very resonant guitar, adequate electronics. The cons - the tuning machines were useless, had to replace them immediately with Hipshot locking tuners. The frets were a little sharp on the ends, had to file them. The pickups were "okay", but replaced them with Seymour Duncans. The nut is cheap, not nicely filed, needs to be replaced with a TUSQ nut. The pickguard feels cheap, the bridge is adequate but could be upgraded, tuning stability is acceptable if not excellent. In the end, if you can live with some imperfection or can do the work yourself this is a decent "project guitar", but if you're a beginner or someone that just wants a tool that works right out of the box, I would suggest looking elsewhere.
