So far I have to say it works great (but is still brand new, so no idea on durability). Since this is a GSM device I setup an account with Ting Mobile that includes the T-Mobile network (which is GSM). I got a Ting SIM card from Best Buy (includes $30 account credit, card costs $10 so I'm $20 ahead right away).Something I didn't realize when I got this is that has a built-in battery backup so it can work for a few hours if the power fails. Great for my use as an alarm dialer since power could be off when it's needed, this saves me from having to get a UPS for it.One update: I tried it with my home alarm system and it dialed out and sent the code to the alarm monitoring company just as it should have. No longer vulnerable to a wire cut to keep the alarm from signaling the monitor.Anyway, setup was:1. Insert the SIM card (use the largest size)2. Plug in antenna and put it near a window (mine is now mounted in my attic)3. Turn on switch on back of device4. Unit boots up5. Plug in corded phone and make/receive calls. The Ting SIM card worked immediately (I had activated it with Ting beforehand, of course) and IMHO they give the best deals for ongoing wireless service, Combined with the credit you get with the Best Buy card purchase this is working out great.EDIT: Added a picture of my installation, not a showroom but where it's used, hung with zip-ties into the support joists at my basement ceiling. The antenna cable goes into the conduit and straight to my attic, the blue wire is the phone wire going to my alarm dialer, Ever time I go to the basement it's been no surprises, always 4 "bars" (in this case green LED's) of signal. Truly appears to be set and forget.Note, to reach my attic I did add an extension to the antenna cord.Edit: Still working fine after 8 months of continuous 24/7 use. Would buy again immediately if I needed to.

So far, it’s a great product shipped with the wrong documentation
Likes:- Very easy to setup and use.- Comes with a phone cord- Very easy to insert the SIM (manual is incorrect- just insert the SIM face down in the spring-loaded slot on the back)- So far, works as advertised with a T-Mobile SIM card.Dislikes:- The included instruction manual is for another Onvian product that appears to be an older model with more features. The older model is still for sale on Amazon for $20 less, but has bad reviews.- The manual is very basic and poorly translated - good thing the product is so easy to setup.- The older model has an LCD display for more meaningful error codes, better troubleshooting, and displays Caller ID.- The older model also has a reset button. The cutout for the reset button is still there on the new model - hope I never need it.- The included manual talks about removing a screw on the bottom and removing a cover to install a SIM card, which is incorrect. Why I purchased this unit:My parents are paying $55 a month for a landline they’ve had for 40+ years. They don’t want to lose their home phone number, but are fed up being price gouged by AT&T. There are cheaper internet-based solutions, but their internet service isn’t reliable and I wanted them to be able to use their existing cordless phone system that they’re already comfortable with. So, setup a new line with T-Mobile, test the Onvian system with the randomly assigned number (it works great even with the answering machine built in to the cordless phone station, but Caller ID doesn’t seem to come through), then I’ll port their home number to T-Mobile - bye, bye Ma Bell. This Onvian system has another benefit- if they move to another house or a retirement home in the US, I just move the Onvian system to the new location, plug in up to two corded phones or their old cordless phone system and they have phone service - no more porting or need to call customer service to move their number.

Working great with Tmobile SIM, great sound quality, couple things to consider...
First off, do NOT buy this unit if you have a AT&T sim card, it will only work with a Tmobile sim. And work it does, it works great and is doing exactly what we needed however there a few things to be aware of. This unit does not support caller ID so know that up front, the other thing is it is supposed to support DTMF but does not seem to do so. What I mean is you can not use any touchtone features after your call is placed, like if you want to check voicemail or use any kind of automated system, forget it, because whatever you call doesn't seem to recognize the DTMF tones. The manual says it supports DTMF so not sure if its a problem with my unit or if simply doesn't do it. I contacted the seller about the DTMF issue, waiting for reply. For now we're working around that inconvenience. Also, I picked up a rubber ducky antenna to use with it instead of the included magnetic mount, the rubber ducky works great ( http://a.co/d/0G4Jt0S ) and signal strength is good. Id'd give this a 5-star rating if the DTMF tones worked.

Great for elderly with dementia
My mother suffers from serious dementia, and cannot learn how to use a new phone. She is capable only of using the same landline telephone she has had for the last 15 years. Given this, we were stuck with paying ATT for astronomical landline fees, until I bought this product. I got a $5/month SIM from US Mobile, stuck it in the box, and everything worked fine. Now she can use her trusty old phone on a cell line, and she doesn't have to know the difference. The only improvement I could suggest is to simulate a dial tone when the phone is off-hook, but for now this does not bother my mother. Great product.

Worked exactly as advertised.
I took it out of the box, slapped a Ting card in it and hooked up a phone. In less than 5 minutes I had made a call to my cell phone and one to my parents. The calls are clear, much clearer than I thought they would be. The only thing I found is the unit will not ring a phone with actual bells and striker in it, probably requires more amperage than it can produce. A digital ringer phone works great. I've also successfully run this from a 5 volt battery pack on my rural property.

does not work with any carrier in Philippines (which are 900/1800 GSM bands)
The device would be perfect for my needs if it worked. The antenna is good. I get 4 bars of signal, dialtone, but cannot make or receive calls.Hopefully Onvian customer service can help sort it out so I can give a better rating.
