Complete Game Changer for those who hate being in the kitchen!!!
I can't tell you how much I hate being in the kitchen. Cooking, baking, whatever, doesn't matter I flipping hate it. I am even nervous being in the kitchen, I am almost shaking because I want to get out of there so bad. I am a widower Dad who works full time and does all the shopping, cooking, cleaning, lunch packing, etc, etc, etc. So adding all this time to cook just makes my blood boil. And I'm super particular on healthy diet and exercise, for myself and my kids, so going out is not an option 99% of the time. I only use the microwave to heat up water for crying out loud. With this Ninja Foodi 8qt, with a thermometer, I have actually almost enjoyed cooking. Not all the way :) but at least now I don't despise being in the kitchen so much. And, I actually do get enjoyment, via my amazement, at how easy this thing is to use. In addition, I am amazed when I see the food come out of this device in perfect shape, condition and in way less time... with way easier cleanup. Yes, I am a perfectionist and when my fish comes out at perfect temperature, still juicy and in way less time, I actually get enjoyment from it. Then cleanup could not be easier and quicker. Trust me, I have tried experimenting with many different methods of cooking just to get the clean up faster and this Ninja Foodi gets the award. I originally had the 6.5 quart, because I thought the 8 quart was a lot bigger, but it wasn't doing it for me because I kept overcooking my meat and having to continually babysit the thing. Experimenting with cooking times is a complete waste of time for me. This all just reinforced how much I hate cooking and how much it makes my stress levels go into the red zone :). However, I did see promise on how easy it is to steam, pressure cook, steam & crisp and clean up afterwards. I didn't even know how to pressure cook until I bought this thing. But now I use pressure cooking and steam & crisp all the time and love it. So I did some more research and decided to get the 8-quart because of the thermometer. I almost bought the Instant Pot with the wifi lid, but no thermometer and no steam & crisp combo, so it was out. I was hesitant to get the 8 court because I thought it was quite a bit larger and heavier. I did not want some behemoth appliance on my counter. However, after I pulled it out of the box I thought it was the 6.5 quart as the two seemed about the same size. So I looked it up and did a quick comparison. The 8 quart is only 1.18 inch taller and 1.6 pounds heavier, which is basically nothing. And trust me I can't even tell. So that made me happy. What made me even happier is the first time I did Steam & Crisp on my Cod filet and Salmon filet and each time they came out perfectly moist, tender and flaky and at the exact temperature that I set. I even checked the temp on my instant meat thermometer and it was spot on. I immediately thought holy crap this is a complete game changer! Then it only took me 3 minutes to clean up. Love it! Thank you Ninja Kitchen for making such a smart, perfect appliance that makes my life in the kitchen sooooo much easier. And thank you Amazon for making purchasing and returns so easy as I likely would not have returned the 6.5 quart if it wasn't so easy. Then, I would have been forced to just continue living in kitchen misery :). BONUS: Another reason that I am glad that I got the 8 quart is it has the double rack. This ended up being a big bonus because it allows me to cook more food at one time. I try to cook as much as possible at one time and then have leftovers. This definitely helps in that department.

I use this almost every day. What a great gizmo!
OK, first: if you don't know it yet, you NEED a pressure cooker. It makes SO many things SO much easier to cook. And this one is a top-of-the-line quality brand and model. Most particularly: it has the temperature thermometer, which is great for roasts. (Does better than my air fryer). I use it almost daily and it just keeps working. Highly recommended for reliability. It is my most-used kitchen appliance other than refrigerator and microwave. Used even more than air fryer and toaster oven. Pros: - Makes cooking so many things a one-step process. For example: many rice dishes, many soups, some stews. For example: mac and spaghetti sauce. I throw in a box of 100% whole wheat macaroni, a jar of spaghetti sauce, salt and water (the correct amount of water learned by experimenting - use 1-3/4 cups water with 1 lb of mac and a 24 oz jar of sauce), turn it on, and...voila - done in about 20 minutes, perfectly al dente every time. No straining. No waiting for a boil. No stirring. No pot-watching. No sticking. No burning. No undercooking or overcooking.(Warning: but if you try to do a double or triple batch, it can burn the mac slightly.) - The built-in thermometer means that it will turn itself off when your roast is at just the right internal temp. I get great results with pork loin, though with a whole pork-loin (which is huge) you'll have to cut your loin into 3 or 4 sections and cook one section after another. - Just tons of settings. Set the temperature when using the thermometer. Set the pressure and the time to pressure cook. Set the time for it to "stand" at pressure, without additional heat, after cooking. Set for immediate release of pressure, delayed release (time-settable), or "natural" release. etc. etc. - Also does air frying, and even does a dual-mode "steam crisp" where it pressure cooks and then air-fries. (I use the steam crisp mode for pork loin with great results.) (I still use my air fryer for food that only needs air-frying.) - Mostly easy to clean. (See cons below for exceptions.) - Goes a long way to make it safe for pressure-cooker newbs like I was when I got it. You can't open the lid while the compartment is pressurized. If pressure is set to automatically release, three quite loud beeps sound about 30 seconds before the steam starts coming out of the release valve. The release valve itself has a "stay cool" handle, so you can safely adjust the valve (if you're just a little bit careful to avoid the spray of steam) even while steam is coming out. Cons: - Cleaning... - - The fan behind the air fryer heating element at the top of the lid is very difficult to clean. You'll want a small-ish pipe cleaner for the job. - - The plastic/rubber seal is a LITTLE tricky to get out and put in. Not terribly difficult, but not super-easy, either. Cleans easily once removed. No stains yet. - The pot... - - Scratches surprisingly easy. - - Sometimes needs soaking despite the coating (I think it's ceramic coating). However: resists staining very well, and even with tons of scratches I hardly ever have food sticking (not yet, anyway). Macaroni, rice - no sticking. - - Personally, I wish a stainless pot were available as an accessory, or even as the main pot. Then I could have my choice between delicate-but-no-stick or sturdy-but-don't-cook-sticky-things. - The controls...Every once in a great while the gizmo shuts itself off before it's finished. Now: this will happen if what you're cooking runs out of liquid, and that's good (because it prevents burning). But it also happens on very rare occasion when there's plenty of liquid, and I'm not sure why. - The heat...for some full-pot pressure-cook dishes, the heat is too much and stuff on the bottom gets burned while heating, and of course there's no way to stir (while pressure is building up) to prevent burning. I wish there was a low-heat setting, that might prevent burning. One partially-successful solution is to cook all the liquids to boiling first (low pressure, 0 minutes), and then (in a second step) add remaining items and cook under pressure as normal. Conclusion: pressure cooking is a great concept, and this particular model is a great choice for pressure cooking. If you don't do roasts, get the cheaper model without the thermometer.

WOW! SO IMPRESSED
Wow, this new kitchen device has me speechless! Coming from a busy working mama of 2 young kids, this saves me so much time everyday. Less time I spend in the kitchen means more time I can spend with my family. I knew I wanted a pressure cooker and did so many reviews/research before buying the Ninja Smart Pressure Cooker. Pressure cookers have always intimated me which is why I never bought one but now kicking myself for not getting one sooner! I love to cook and it never bothered me to spend time in the kitchen but now I can still make a delicious meal and have more time to relax at night. Pros: I really thank Ninja for creating an easy to read instruction manual. As a first time buyer of a pressure cooker I really needed a good manual to read over to learn how to use the device. I really liked it also came with a recipe book. I love that I can make a 3 course meal. I know some of the insta pots you can’t tier your food and I really like the option that I can. The air fryer is great and the 8 qt basket is big enough to make my kids their tenders/fries. I have not yet made a whole chicken but I’m really curious how the thermometer works. The last thing I really love is the multi function lid. That was a big selling point for me because I wanted a multi function unit but only wanted 1 lid. I don’t have a lot of storage and ninja blew the design out of the water. It’s so simple yet so functional to just slide the lever depending on if you want to pressure cook, air fry or steam. Cons: The cooker is very heavy and bulky. You won’t want to put this away and take it out every time you use it due to the weight. This isn’t really a con for me since I don’t mind leaving on my counter but for someone who doesn’t like things on their counter, it could be a con. The stainless part of the cooker like any stainless is hard to keep clean. It’s fingerprint galore but looks sharp when it’s clean! If you are a first time buyer or just wanting to upgrade, I’d definitely get this! If you have a big family just go ahead and get the 8 quart like I did. This is a very expensive machine but I do think it’s worth it! This unit basically replaced all my oven baked meals! Thank you ninja for creating an esthetically pleasing a yet easy to use cooker. Like all Ninja products, they never fail to disappoint.

Perfection
What can I say, it does everything it advertises. The food we have made has been delicious. There are so many options . This appliance replaces and compliments other appliances in the kitchen so well. We purchased this mostly to replace our slow cooker and rice cooker. It is spacious and easily fits a 6-8lb rotisserie chicken. One of my favorite personal recipes is my potato soup. I loved to use a slow cooker to cook the potatoes for 12 hours and they would come out so soft and moist, that they would melt in your mouth, but they still retained their cubed shape (did not turn to mush). Using the pressure cooker on this Ninja Foodi has cut that time down imensly to about an hour. The thermometer that is included is simply a great accessory and allows it to cook to a specific temperature. When not in use, it has convenient storage on the side of the appliance. It is quite hefty and does not take up a lot of room considering what appliances it is replacing. The smart lid on this model is so convenient. I wonder if they might have included a splatter shield for the smart lid, Perhaps that could not be used on this smart lid because of the pressure cooker. if it could, that would be a nice addition. The appliance has been easy to clean so far, especially if you clean it immediately. I would like to see more accesories and cook books for this particular model. One accesory I found difficult to find that was specific to the Ninja Foodi, were magnetic charts with large fonts to show the tables for cooking that are in the book that is included with the appliance. My eyesight is not as good as it used to be and I need to use a magnifying glass to read the tables. There are lots of charts for Instapot and generic. But I notice the temperature and times are different than the tables in the Ninja Foodi included recipe book. I did manage to find ONE magnetic chart that seem to have the temperatures for the Ninja, but it is always nice to have variety that might have better fonts or layouts or additional information. Overall though, I am amazed by this appliance and believe it is one of the best investments we have made. Thank you Ninja Foodi!

Great improvements
I bought a Ninja Foodi about 4 years ago when I found it in Sam's Club, this was before the whole air fryer craze blew up. The features I like was it could pressure cook, then air fry. (I think it advertised Foodi as a 14 in 1 unit, but I only used 2.) While doing some cleaning and organizing, I lost the pressure cap for the vent, and then eventually lost the lid. That was one of the things I HATED about the Foodi, I had to keep track of all these various parts. So for Black Friday I shopped around. The requirements I was looking for, the unit had to have pressure and air fry, be large enough so when I cook I have enough for dinner + meal prep for the week and preferred to have a lid that I did not have to switch all the time. Luckily the new Foodi fit all those requirements. The air fry basket this time is a little deeper, so it holds a little more food. I have not tried to make any stews yet for my meal prep but I feel the pressure cook pot is a tad larger, I put in 4# of pork ribs the other day and they all fit. I really like that the lid is attached to the Foodi, no more losing it! It's also easy to switch between different lids, just move a switch and it goes from air fryer, steam fry and then pressure.I mainly use the pressure and air fry options, I tried steam fry once but didn't care for it. It's just steam function. Other thoughts on this, there's a designated handle to use when opening/closing the lid. It says to not touch the sides because it's hot. I find the designated handle weird because it's positioned in the front and not the side. (Maybe it's because I'm used to the old style, but I always open from the side and I hardly use the designated handle.) The old design automatically set the airfry at 350 or 400, this upgraded unit starts at 400 and gives 15 degree increments to change. (I stick to 400.) There's a knob used to change functions, the unit automatically detects which lid is currently in use and then gives you options, I like the knob rather than pressing up and down buttons to select. It is a little louder and heavier than the old unit, but for all the conveniences that is included, I'm ok with that.

super amazing!
Wow, this is probably the best product that I've ever purchased on Amazon. It's completely changed my approach to cooking. I already own two pressure cookers and an air fryer, and this product replaces all three of them, plus can do even more. I'm surprised more people are more excited about this device - it's kind of a sleeper hit. Ninja bills this as a combination pressure cooker and air fryer, and while that's technically true, what really sets this apart from 99% of products on the market is that this is actually a combi-oven. A combi-oven is used in restaurants and commercial kitchens because it allows you to simultaneously cook with steam and convection. This makes food both tender and crispy. You can also cook multiple things at once. It's so easy to cook a whole meal in this, including a starch, vegetable, and protein, all with different flavor profiles. I've never been much of a baker, but cakes are also really easy and come out super moist. I've done tons of recipes, and almost always takes less than 30 minutes of cooking time, completely set-it and forget-it. You can cook literally ANYTHING in this device. Besides the steam crisp mode (which is what I primarily use it for), you can also braise with the pressure cooker mode, roast with the air fryer mode, sautee, proof dough, bake almost anything, make yogurt, dehydrate things, and even sous-vide! It has a built-in meat thermometer that's integrated with the device, so you can tell it to cook a steak or roast to a specific temperature, and then let it rest. It's replaced my pressure cookers, rice cooker, air fryer, stove top, and oven. Clean-up is also a snap. Unlike most pressure cookers, the main cooking pot is enamelized, so it's non-stick. The air fryer insert has a standard nonstick surface. The baskets for steaming are just stainless steel, but are easy enough to clean. Like other pressure cookers, it has a rubber gasket along the lid that I would recommend also cleaning regularly. What are the disadvantages? The convection fan is loud. It does vent steam. This last critique is a bit nitpicky, but the temperature and time settings are controlled by a touch screen. I would've preferred dials, because it can get annoying having to press it a bunch of times to get the exact settings you want.

The OL601 and OL701 models are the same other than the probe and added functionality on OL701.
I have both the OL601 and the OL701 models of the pressure cooker. In this review, I will compare the two models and explain the differences to help you decide whether paying the extra cost for the OL 701 is worth it for you. First of all, the OL701 has the same design, accessories, and all of the functions of the OL601, so you don't lose any functionality if you decide on the OL701 vs. the OL601. Both models have the problem of water dripping from the lid to the counter when using any mode that uses water, which is most of them. The major differences between the two models are: 1) On the OL601, the pressure release is the same as previous models. You can slow release or quick release by moving the valve. On the OL701, you can digitally choose the release you want. The cooker defaults to Natural Release, but you can also choose Quick Release or Delayed Release and it will be done automatically. Personally, this isn't a big deal for me as I don't mind moving the valve for a quick release of pressure or letting the cooker natural release for 10 minutes or so and then moving the valve to release any remaining pressure. 2) The OL701 includes a probe that connects to the underside of the lid and the OL601 does not include a probe. For me, this is the biggest selling point for the OL701. The OL701 has what they call "Smart Cooking". The probe is stored in a holder on the side of the pressure cooker. Using the probe, you can choose the meat, poultry, or fish you are cooking and choose a preset done temperature or set it manually. For me this is the best benefit of the OL701. a) Generally, when pressure cooking, it's a best guess as to when the meat is cooked to the desired temperature and doneness. With the probe, you can pressure cook roasts, chicken, etc. to your preferred internal temperature. In the pressure cooking mode, for presets, you can choose beef, pork, or chicken, and can choose between well and shred. If you choose manual, you can set the internal temperature the meat should be cooked to. The manual suggests temperatures for different doneness and allows for carryover cooking. b) In the steam and crisp mode, you can choose presets for beef, chicken, pork, and fish, and choose your preferred doneness (rare, med. rare, medium, medium well, and well). You can also use a manual setting to set the done temperature you prefer. The probe does not work for the steam and bake mode. c) In the third position of the slider, the probe works only for air fry, bake/roast, and sear/sauté functions. For these function, you can also choose a preset for beef, chicken, pork, and fish and choose your preferred doneness, or choose manual to set the internal temperature for the meat or fish you are cooking. Other than these two major differences of a pressure release choice and the Smart Cooking settings, the OL601 and OL701 are basically the same. I should also mention that some functions of these cookers can be mimicked on previous models. For example, the steam and crisp could be mimicked by using the steaming or pressure cooking functions and then using the air fry lid to crisp. As compared to the older models, it's nice to not have the extra lid to store. On the downside, the lids on older models are a bit easier to clean since they are not attached to the machine, but the grill cover on the crisping lid of older models does make cleaning them more difficult. With each of the models there are trade-offs. I have had all of the previous models, and this one is my favorite. It's true the lid doesn't come off, but you don't have to find a place to store an extra lid. Since there isn't a screen cover over the heating element, you don't have that to clean. So far, I haven't had to clean the lid. I think the fan keeps most foods away from it. If the lid does get dirty, you can easily clean it by putting water in the pot and steaming it clean. My favorite and most used functions are: 1) Steaming. I grow a lot of veggies in my basement, and steam them before packaging them for freezing. Blanching veggies with steam retains more of the vitamins than blanching them in water since some of the vitamins and minerals are lost in the water. 2) Pressure cooking. Although this unit pressure cooks like any other pressure cooker, the difference is the convenience of the probe that you can set a done temperature. Although you can find guidelines for pressure cooking roasts and other meats, the time to be used is often differentiated by small, medium, or large. So, you have to guess as to how these sizes relate to the food you are pressure cooking. The probe takes the guesswork out of pressure cooking. If you like sweet potatoes, you have to try pressure cooked sweet potatoes. Add a little butter and brown sugar and they are to die for. 3) Steam and crisp. Previous to this cooker, I had been making baked potatoes in the microwave. This was OK, but the texture of the potato wasn't always the best and the skin was soft. Now I use Steam and Crisp to make baked potatoes - the inside of the potatoes is fluffy, and the skin is crispy. Perfect!! On thing I should mention here is the cookbook suggests only 1 cup of water for most foods using the Steam and Crisp method. This means the water will totally steam out of the pot for the crisping to happen leaving some burned on residue from water and juices. Fortunately, with the non-stick surface of the pot, this easily rinses out with water. 4) Another favorite is to pressure cook a roast with aromatics, such as onions and garlic, tomatoes, and herbs in the water, and then use the sauté function to make the gravy. I take the roast out of the pot and cover it with aluminum foil to rest and keep it warm. Then I pour everything left in the pot into a gravy separator with a strainer to remove the fats. Once the fats raise to the top and are poured off, the broth and everything caught by the strainer goes back into the pot. I heat everything in the pot using the sauté mode and add a tablespoon or so mixed with water to the broth. Use an immersion blender to blend everything together and cook to the gravy consistency you like. This makes a super flavorful gravy. I often save leftover gravy to be used later instead of the jarred stuff. I hope this review was helpful for you.

Great concept, Poorly implemented.
I own 3 Ninja Foodies. I have been using 2 of these for several years. Two of my Ninja Foodies are older models. OS401 10 in 1 XL 8 qt. ( $184.00) The 3rd Ninja Foodie is model OL701, 14 in 1 SMART CL 8 qt. ($392.98) The model OL701 is not worth even $1. Using the pressure option does not work correctly. 1. Even loading the pot with 1/2 of the amount of boneless chicken that I can load in the older model does not seal correctly. Steam POURS out of all of the vents not allowing the pressure to build. Blocking the side vents and the top vent thereby allowing the pressure to build only works 1 out of 4 times. 2. The internal fan kicks in (this is the air crisp feature) in the middle of the pressure cycle and stops the pressure from reaching maximum. 3. Clean up is AWFUL!!!!!! The contents of any pressure cycle splatter up into the heating element and fan combination in the lid. You cannot remove the lid for cleaning as you do in the older models. The over all amount of time needed to get a single cycle of pressure and then subsequent cleanup is greater than cooking in an oven and then throwing the pan in the dishwasher. Air Crisp works well and Roast setting works well (Same as older models). I am going to order this Foodi model one more time to see if the horrible performance is due to a defect. If it is I will send back the defective unit. If both units function the same I will return both units. I will try to buy an older model, but these seem to be mostly unavailable. Keep you posted!

Love, love, love this machine
I waited several months before writing this review to see if I would continue to use it after the new toy feeling wore off. I still love it and use it multiple times every day! This baby is super easy to clean! It has a permanent place on my counter and I use it for everything from morning toast to reheating leftovers to cooking dinner. It replaced my toaster oven, my rice cooker, my slow cooker, my pressure cooker, my yogurt maker and my deep fryer. I love the steam crisp feature. It makes incredibly moist roasted meats and is great for baking bread. I rarely fry on the stove or use the oven because this baby does it all without supervision, without mess and with easy cleanup.

So versatile
I purchased this model 4 years ago and it still working just fine. I use it at least once a week; pressure cook, air fryer, steam & crisp, etc. With probe or not. It just begin to show some signs of wear. I will be sad when it dies :) I would buy again but I think this model is not available anymore.

The best pressure cooker
So far this is the best pressure cooker I had, and I had a few. My first observation, cooks faster than the other ones. So if you are using the recommended times for the other ones, you might overcook the meat or the dish. I now check a few times before the final time. I didn't try the other functions except pressure cooking and steam frying(of course!) but I am pretty sure they work grate.

Best decision I ever made!
Best purchase of my life. I was hesitant that I would not use it as much as my instant pot, it’s laughable looking back. I use this everyday! It cleans up nice and the temperature probe was worth the extra cash. Don’t hesitate just buy this! You will not regret it (as long as you have the counter space, it’s one heavy sob if you’re planning to move it after every use).

Expensive and didnt last... but when it worked it was great.
It was expensive and the air fryer feature stoped working not long after purchase. Getting warranty results from Ninja has not been super. They had me destroy the product on a video chat and here we are... Ninja customer service has offered me a replacment product (they no longer make this perticular model)... The replacement model is less expensive and has less features... they also keep cancelled the order for the replacment. I would love love love to get my money back.
