Why buy this double wall tube type slat compare to the single wall slat at roughly half the price?

Ridged Slats are popular because they are such a bargain. However, both slat options have been around for decades. The single wall Ridged Slats are almost 15 percent wider (despite using less almost 30 percent less material), less expensive, and are covered by the same 30 year warranty as the Tube Slats. Ridged Slats provide more coverage for less money. Because the Tube Slats have a double wall and 30 percent more material than the single wall slats, they are stronger and easier to install. This is the reason most fence contractors prefer the Tube Slats. More Tube Slats have been installed around the country than Ridged Slats. Some buyers prefer the flat uniform shape of the Tube Slats over the wavy corrugated look of the Ridged Slats. Unfortunately, the Tube Slats are also heavier and bulkier and thus cost significantly more to transport. Homeowners usually make their decision based on aesthetics and/or economics. Does it come with the plastic or I have to put in?

You have to purchase the plastic strips separately and put them in the fence

What is the depth of the slat?  I see the width of 1 3/32 and the length, what's the depth?

Each slat can be cut easily with scissors, to the depth you need. I put the slat thru starting from the top and going down, then cut the extra slat off at the top. The slats do slide through the fencing very easily with guidance from your hands.

Can you install the slates horizontally?

You probably could but it would not provide as neat of a look. They are made to slide in vertical.
