A precision tool
The B120A-6 dial caliper is from Starrett's made-in-the-US line of precision measurement tools. While the Chinese made tools are perfectly satisfactory for woodworking (I have the fractional-inch dial caliper), the B120A seems to be better made in terms of overall quality of work and finish. As a +/-0.001" caliper, it certainly is designed and made to a higher level of accuracy than the factional-inch caliper, which measures down to 1/64th. My initial trials with feeler gauges, drill bits, and other accurately machined items indicates that my new caliper gives accurate, repeatable results down to a thousandth of an inch. A great measuring device. Further proof that you get what you pay for, if you are willing to pay.

upper jaws not accurate
The build quality was mostly good except for 3 things. The upper jaws were .002 thou off. The dial shield was plastic (was worried about it scratching) and the needled rubbed on one part of the dial and I could see wear after just a day of use. But like I say the upper jaws were .002 thou off. That was a deal breaker. Returned for a refund. Not worth the price for all the issues. I have pairs that are a third the price that can read an accurate measurement with the upper jaws.

Good Calipers
These calipers seem to be high quality. They wern't quite as smooth as I expected. Checked it on a 1/2" plug gage and a 1" gage block. It was spot on even after several months. Sadly, they had to be sent in for repair when someone dropped them and damaged the tip of the jaws.
