Comfy shorts for long runs
I purchased these shorts toward the end of my training regimen for my first marathon. They were very comfortable for long runs up to and including the full 26 mile race. The inner liner is soft and doesn't chafe or ride up, and the shorts provide plenty of flexibility for easy movement. My only complaint is the size of the pockets: I would have liked something slightly larger for my longest runs. Each pocket can hold 2 Gu packets, *if* they're fitted in just right. I've had packets fall out while running if they weren't secured perfectly, and if they were just a bit larger, I think you could carry 4 packets comfortably. Still, I would recommend these shorts overall: I plan to buy another pair myself for this year's running.

I like 'em
These were good shorts for me. I used them for the 2010 Chicago Marathon. I crammed 2 PowerGels in each pocket for the race. The pockets are in a good location so the gels didn't jostle around when running. But the pockets are not good for much else and I certainly wouldn't use it to hold a key or ID. I also really like the material. When they were soaked they didn't cling to my legs. They are pretty short, but I wear compressions underneath so not a big deal at all.

Good running shorts
I bought these because of their strong recommendation for running. They are very decent running shorts, but I would not rate them higher than the Under Armor running shorts that I was wearing. I also bought the Inifiniti Notch II shorts and the Rogue Runner III shorts. Of the 3 Brooks products, I prefer the other two (Inifiniti Notch II the most!) over the Sherpa's. To be sure, there is nothing wrong with them at all and many will prefer the more traditional liner compared to the Infiniti Notch.

Great running shorts.
Pros:great material, stretchy and lightdries in secondskey pouch and side pockets for gelsCons:no media pocketThe only thing that is missing is a back pocket for your media/ipod, with waterproof protection from your sweat. You can use the front inside pouch that is for the keys, but that is hardly ideal. They are loose on the leg, keep that in mind if you don't like the style.

Fits fine, quality good, pockets small
The Brooks Men's Sherpa III shorts are good quality running shorts. I am 5'11", 165 lbs, and the medium fit perfectly. They are not too long nor too short. They have two small pockets on the back of each hip, sealed with a Velcro strip. The pockets might hold a hotel card or a single key, but not much else. Keep an eye out for deals. I got them for $20 and free prime shipping.

good shorts, weak pockets
these are good, light shorts. very cool and comfortable. they're also pretty short. not a huge deal, but it's just not my style. my main gripe with them is pretty ineffective pockets. they're just big enough to cram in a gu or two. too small for shot bloks. and there's enough open space beside the velcro on the pockets for a key to fall out.

As an avid Ultrarunner i can attest to the fact that as the name implys ,these shorts go on and on . Comfy ,no chafe ( At least for 1000 miles ) then there's lube .Nice liner ,small side pocket either side on hip will hold a gel or two . Super light ,great for training or racing . I own about eight pairs and they're still my favourite shorts ,Buy them !,but save some for me . Ultra paul. Brooks Men's Sherpa Short III,Anthracite/Rio Red,Medium

Best.Short.EVER!
These are finest, best fitting, most comfortable running shorts I have ever worn! Simply terrific. Light weight, very wicking, stylish, etc. I can't rave enough about these shorts. The best part is that these are the first shorts I've worn that, after a long run, I've not worried at all about chaffing. The side pockets to hold things I don't use, but not because they aren't good on a run, I just don't like the feel of anything in my pockets while I run.
