Astra Depot Red Aluminum Smart Key Fob Ring Rim Trim Cover Replacement for Mini Cooper

Initially I was very disappointed in this product. I just recently bought a 2010 Mini Cooper S, and the FOB looked old and beat up. I ran across these and thought they'd be great to make it look a little nicer. When I got it, I immediately slipped it on, not entirely pleased that it didn't fully cover the old flaking plastic chrome ring. Then I was thoroughly disappointed when it wouldn't fit into the ignition. I tossed it aside thankful that I was out only a couple bucks. Fortunately for me, I kept hold of it. Later, something prompted me to research if other people had the same problems as I did. As it turns out, the plastic chrome ring is not part of the FOB as I had incorrectly guessed. It's removable (I broke mine in the removal process but who cares). When I figured this out, and the old ring was removed, my eyes lit up as I knew my replacement ring would now fit properly. I noticed it fit a bit loosely, but that was an easy fix. I simply, gently squeezed the ring together to form a tighter ring with the ends overlapping (be careful to keep the ring circular and not simply bend the two ends together). After this, the ring snaps on with a nice snug fit. My beat up FOB looks much nicer, and it works perfectly. For less than $3, I couldn't ask for more.

Love the pop of color these add to the fob. However the fit is a little off. In trying to get it right, one of the small end tabs broke off and the other one is close to breaking also. The overall diameter is a little larger than the fob so it would require some trimming to get it right. It would have been nice if there were some instructions or hints about how to obtain a perfect fit. I had expected a little more considering the price. Overall I am happy with the look but a little disappointed in the quality. I'm not sure if the 2018 fob is the exact same size as previous models, so that may be the cause of my problem. I would recommend them to anyone looking to dress up their fob, but advise them to use care in getting the fit right.

The ring is an easy swap and initially looked great. However, the fit into the dash is very tight with the new ring. The smart key works fine, you just have to force it a little bit in and out. After a few weeks of use, the red is wearing off in a few spots. I tried to reshape it on the key fob a couple of times with no improvement on how it fit into the dash. It's a fun idea but I'm not likely to buy another one.

Loved the touch of color, now the key matches the interior of our car. It was very easy to install, although they were a little delicate and easy to bend.

While the ring is stylish in color and helps to differentiate my keys from my wife's, the material is flimsy and does not fit the key fob very well. The metal is easily bendable and does not fit snugly. I expect it to wear out very quickly. The original silver metal ring cover that came with the key fob was much thicker and heavier in weight and fit perfectly. I guess I should have looked into this in more detail before I purchased it but cost was low and it looked nice. I would not purchase again.

This ring makes my key fob look even better than it did. My MINI is red so this is a good fit. Classy.One minor problem is that it does not fit as tightly as the original. One of the edges is exposed which could snag.At some point I will try to adjust the ring to resolve this situation.I would recommend this to other red MINI owners.

It's kinda pink, not red. Once it is on the key doesn't fit, you have to really push it in, then it gets stuck. Flimsy Construction- ours broke after the 2nd time we put it in the key slot.Not worth return, only a couple of $. Would not recommend.

Inexpensive and good quality. Fitment is good, but may require a dab of glue to secure it. It's actually aluminum like the ad says, so that's cool. At the price I expected plastic with a metallic finish.
