Q: Can you color these with colored pencils?

Yes, colored pencils work great the metalic colors really look great you can mix the media's also acriylic paint, permanent markers and pencils .I think the only things that don't work are pastels watercolor and crayons.One tip is don't use to many dark colors because they condense and they get to dark .

Q: How long can they be baked... i understand they will shrink with in minutes, but... say... you wanted to bake them for.... an hour? would they be ok?

Shrinky dinks are baked at 325° F and turn out perfectly when baked for about 3 minutes. At a lower temp, I'm sure it would take longer for them to fully shrink. I would not reccomend leaving them in longer than 4 minutes at 325° F because they could turn out undesirable, or even burn.
