Is this identical to dentek canker cover?

Yes. (Answering for everyone wondering this same thing). DenTek no longer makes the Canker Cover, the one that looks like this one. The "new" DenTak replacement product is the Canker Relief Patch. It is terrible, flimsy, and doesn't work at all. This Dentemp Canker Cover works nearly identically to DenTak Canker Cover, and beats anything else out there now; since the DenTek version is no longer available. BUY THESE!!!

Will this work on sores on the tongue?

Since purchasing this product, I have had two sores on my tongue. One was on the side of my tongue and one was on the tip. Out of 5 applications, I only had a cover fall off once, and that was for the sore on the side of my tongue. I do have to warn though that while it provides amazing relief and protection against irritating food, you will have a large jelly lump stuck to your tongue. For me it was worth it though.

What’s the best way to apply to get it to stick correctly ? Dry the area as much as possible first, or leave the sore moist?

For me I had to dry the area with a Kleenex first so it would stick.

Does it numb the canker sore?

Not like Orajel. It has menthol which soothes a bit, though. The pain relief comes from covering and protecting. They are a lifesaver for very bad or painful sores and really do help with healing. I cut them in half or quarters and put them on when I go to bed. When I wake up, they are still in place and last into the day and the sore is so much less painful
