Terry Allen is funny and has depth,insight, can be searingly critical. But his beat is so infectious you can't stand still when you hear it.I don't drink at all, never fooled around in honky tonks, but I know good lyrics when I hear them; this guy is one of Country Music's best kept secrets.

Actually this is my least favorite of his many CD's. My husband and I now have ten of his recordings and cannot get enough. His lyrics are quite original, often sweet, intelligent, and funny. The band he plays with is awesome too with an unending repertoire of fantastic riffs. We have nearly all of his recordings now and have quit listening to anyone else.Try Human Remains or Lubbock to see if you like his many styles.

It's not pop, it's not rock, it's not for people who don't like to think, and ponder, and laugh, and drink, and drink some more. But if that's your thing, this might be for you.

When it comes to consistency, Terry Allen comes to mind, or should, if you enjoy eclectic music. I have all his albums now, thanks to Amazon. Give him a listen, you may be surprised. d2iq
