Throne of Power: An Arranged Marriage Mafia Romance

I'm so glad I waited until it was complete to read this duet because that ending was brutal. I'm so glad we got to finally dive into Rai’s story. Kyle has big plans and won't let anyone get in his way, not even his new wife, Rai. She has been in love with Kyle for a long time but he left without a word seven years ago. She has worked to make a name for herself at her family's company. She doesn't want anything to do with Kyle when he pops back up. Definitely address his onetotheTBR.

Good story. A lot of deception. I like Rai and her fierceness. I hate Kyle has so many secrets. I have no idea what his end game is. It’s intriguing. I have a feeling the ending was deceptive. So I am looking forward to starting book 2. This book was written well and has interesting characters and an even more interesting, entertaining storyline.

This book was good, I loved the chemistry between Rai and Kyle.... I love how strong and independent Rai is.... I can't wait to read the next book....

This review is going to be for both of the books. Since the story does deal with twins sister it can get extremely confusing. This review is going to include some spoilers just to give the basis of the story. You will need to read All The Lies / All The Truth Duet before you read this book which folloes Reina ( who was actually born Rai ) for this story to really make sense. So I normally do not say this about Rina Kent's books because I love them but Rai's (who was born Reina ) story was really disappointing.So small back story mom was a mafia princess on the run dad was a rich business man. She got pregnant with twins then each parent took a kid like the movie "Parent Trap" living separate lives. Mom took Rai and Dad took Reina. Mom went on the run Rai had a bad life and Reina grew up rich and cushy. At age 12 mom " kidnapped" Reina from school and ran with both for a month before mom was killed. At this time they decided to switch places and eventually they'd switch back/ be together finally so Reina became Rai. Stuff happened in the other book with Rai who was now Reina. They decided at the end of the book to not switch back and that means Reina is now officially Rai and most people have no idea they each have a twin.( AFTER this point i will refer to Rai -who was born Reina as Rai )Rai has so much potential but she falls so flat in these books. Kyle who we first meet in All The Truth ( Reinas 2nd book ) Is a killer/hitman for hire and protected Rai during that time and helped save Reina in her book. Well something happened and Kyle just disappeared for 7 years after the end of Reinas books then shows back up as Igors long lost oldest son. This throws off a lot of suspicion. But Rai had already agreed to marry within organization and it was decided it would be Igors oldest son. Before she knew who he was because if she didn't her younger cousin Ana would of had too. What frustrates me about this book is the fact that she's allowing Kyle to essentially manipulate her and not stand up to him like she should be. She also allows him to make her wear a sex toy vibrator while she goes throughout her day doing meetings with the other important people in the Bratva and this in turn affects her being able to work instead of putting her foot down even after he says he wouldnt turn it on while at meetins. Then the part where she goes along with the fact that everyone thought she was pregnant after kyle announced it in front of the bratva at a meeting when she could have just said she wasn't instead of making the excuse that she didn't want to hurt other people's feelings because they were happy for her. She allowed them to throw her a party when she had taken a plan B pill and got on birth control with the excuse that she would just say that she lost the baby or that they didnt confirm she was actually pregnant. She could have just said that in the beginning instead of go along with having a whole a$s party. Another thing that annoys me towards the beginning she was talking about Reina and instead of warning Reina about what was up she just left her in the dark most of the time. If you're in a mafia organization and you know that your sister's been kidnapped more than once wouldn't you warn them about protecting themselves especially now that she has a son.Just like she dropped the ball with Ana. She's 20 and you know she's eventually going to get married why did she lie and say everything was good with the Kyle arranged marriage situation. She should have been honest with her and made her 100% aware of how shitty her life was about to be and that she was going to eventually get married off instead of having her live in some sort of bubble especially sespecially since she makes a comment later on about Lia and how she was acting. Then another thing I thought that was somewhat interesting is the fact that Kyle spoke with an accent (Irish) more than once that she thought was not his normal accent which. But she Essentially completely dismisses it this instead of looking into it more . She even says that she can't trust him but then she's going to continue to take him to bed. Which would of been fine if she didnt completely lose her mind and put everyone at risk. Towards the end of the 1st book after Kyle gets shot their relationship does get a little bit better especially when Rai finally overhears Kyle about his plan and makes her own plan.The 2nd book is okay but she still makes stupid decisions. Like when she goes to the same area that Reina is in because she has to go to a meeting and doesnt warn Reina. But that also brings up another issue if theres a big mafia presence where Reina lives wouldnt they know she's Rai's twin by looking at her. Idk its just a huge plot hole. At first Kyle mentions a flight when they talked about the meeting because he didnt know where the meeting was but then in the next chapter they mention them showing up in the middle of the action so it was all in the same town. Then she send her guards to make sure Asher and his son Gareth get home safe because she ran into them at the same rest the meeting was at and thought Reina maybe around too but then doesnt mention anything about them in the aftermath. Just a simple "are they safe?" would of tied that up.Then when she goes to Reinas house she doesnt actually communicate with her well and drops the ball again.But the worse part is Rai told Kyle she didnt want children and he cu*med in her anyways so she got on birth control pills and took a plan b. Well he switched out the pills and admitted it after she found out she was pregnant. While she was kidnapped and raped ( not attempted she was raped orally) after they went to the hospital where she found out she was pregnant and that be messed with her BCPs she told him she didnt want to speak to him and that same night after Kyle thought it would be a good idea to f+ck Rai after she clearly didnt want too. But then after everything happens to just blame it on him being "obsessed" was meh. There was a lot of other things going on in this book and it's definitely worth the read especially if you want to read all of their children's books just because there is a walk going on in both Reina's and Rai's books. Its the only reason I read both of their books and will be reading Adrian and Lias book since this book sets up there so i can then start on Killians book.Even though the storyline was good the flow of the book was lacking. All the things above could of happened if the book was written a bit better.

Rina Kent does it again!!I loved the chemistry between Kyle and Rai! I will say that I didn’t see the twists and turns coming in this book! Now to grab book 2 and finish their story!

I found this story mildly convoluted but I'm hoping it will become clear in the next book in this duet. Rai's character is a strong female with a lot of mental armor and emotional range. She's a powerhouse that should be recognized within the Bratva but is overlooked because she's female. Kyle's character is fun but also confusing. I don't understand his angle and why he does what he does. It's confusing and I don't like being confused. There were several intense moments that I felt the action could have been embellished a bit more with some extra details to really get me in the scene.Overall, I enjoyed this book and look forward to the next one. I need to know what happens next and why it's happening to begin with. A few TWs to beware of, and lots of spice. 18+ and highly recommend

This is the first part of a duet about the Russian mafia. It contains subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some including adult language, steamy intimate scenes and violence such as murder, attempted murder, torture, assault, fighting, plot twists, betrayal, BDSM theme of dominance / submission, punishment and restraint, etc. Basically everything you would expect from the genre, but written masterfully.I haven’t read any of the mafia duets by Rina Kent, but I am now officially a fan. This story has a lot of subterfuge, backstabbing, and action of all types. It references some couples that were featured in previous stories, but I was able to follow along without issue … although it might have been beneficial to have a listing of common Russian mafia terms to enhance the world building / understanding.There are a few grammatical issues involving the occasional missing or extra inserted word, but nothing that presented a challenge to interpret.In this story, Rai has been raised in the Russian mafia and given a role by first her Grandfather and now her Uncle despite being female. She has taken advantage of the information to work her way to an unofficial seat with the elite leadership by running a corporation that fronts their empire. To save her young cousin that she feels protective of, she agrees to marriage … she just didn’t realize until she had already agreed that it would be to him …Kyle was one of their killers that joined and rose through the ranks when Rai’d grandfather was in charge. He was granted a title, but disappeared after becoming Rai’s must trusted guard. Now 7 years later he is back and she is still very angry that he left her, enough that she actually votes to have him “disciplined” for leaving the mafia family all those years ago. Now she has agreed to marry him so her cousin won’t have to … so why does that idea feel her with excitement?

Eeeek I've been hoping for a Kyle book after meeting him in one of the previous books!!Kyle returns after being gone for 7 years and no one knows where he's been!!Him and Rai are 🔥🔥🔥So many secrets and plot twists in this one!The ending though 😱😱😱

I enjoyed this book a lot because for once the heroin is truly empowered, even if she is a mafia girl.The story is full of suspense and twists...
