I like the idea
It's a strange product. I like the idea, but could not get comfortable with the towing. I returned it.

GREAT if your kids been riding a year or so.
LOVE THIS, for our application. If your little one is JUST starting out, do NOT get this. You need a little team work to get it right. We live in a rural area, with a fair number of hills. No tour de france stuff, but steep enough that a 5 year old on a dirt road is going to struggle. All this is, is an elastic work out band with a couple clips on it.We don't ride attached all the time. I have it on my bike, and I hold the cable in my right hand up on my bars. When we go up a hill, I tell him to try until he stalls out. Then I hook him up, and I tow him up the hill.He did get pulled off the bike once. He started day dreaming, and tried to ride out from behind me. If the child doesn't stay directly behind you, its going to pull their bars at an angle, and over they go.It only took once, and now he knows. I wouldn't use it to tow him around the block or a long bike ride. But if there are area's of your ride that a little one just can't get up, it's perfect

Unsafe product
It seemed like a good idea, and I was very excited to ride along with my son. About 10 minutes into our first trip, my sonโs bike came closer to mine, the towing system got entangled in his front wheel and snapped. This is definitely not a safe product to use with children. If we had been riding a little faster, it could have caused an ugly accident.

Well-designed, reliable, wonderful.
This was _absolutely marvelous_. My 70-year-old mother came to Burning Man with us this year - she has MS, so limited mobility and stamina, and we wanted her to be able to join us in biking around the playa. Biketoad to the rescue! Despite the dust and occasional irregular terrain, we rode _everywhere_ and had a fabulous time. Easy to attach, easy to use, totally reliable. The only tiny caveat is that you _must_ make sure you push the handlebar-end attachment in until you hear an audible click. Otherwise it isn't fully attached, and the bungee will pull out and snap back at the front rider. Once we figured that out, we had _zero_ issues for the rest of the week. But we used it to tow a small adult on a full-size bike with heavy mobility wheels with no problems and surprisingly little effort. We're looking forward to using it on bike paths near our homes, too!

Useful for more than just kids.
I bought two of these. Ostensibly to help my twin 4 year olds learning to ride their bicycles. I tried once with them, they aren't quite ready for it. Once they learn how to brake on their own I'll try with them again.I did, however, bring one on a trip I took with my wife on the Katy trail (end to end) to the objection of my wife. After 30 miles of my wife only doing < 8mph, I talked her into using the Bike Toad. We did the rest at ~12mph. The bike toad did the job. Turned what would have been 5 days of frustration into 3 days of my wife not yelling at me for leaving her behind :).One of the units had a bad coupler. I e-mailed support and they are sending me a new one, no questions asked. Awesome product, awesome service, well worth the expense.

It broke on our first use. The connector wouldn't hold.

Works great after correcting user error!
This is fantastic! I haven't seen anything like it anywhere near this pricepoint. We have one child who is showing no signs at all of becoming an endurance athlete, and this helps him keep pace with the rest of the family. We just need to signal or yell to coordinate when starting and stopping.I did have a little problem at first, but it turned out to be user error: The Biketoad arrived connected, and after disconnecting it once, it did not click in properly. I figured out that I needed to push the adult/front rider's piece firmly with my thumb from behind (rather than where it appears you should grip it - two other people tried the wrong way, too).
